My PC just died

Yep, it is very annoying. I just hope Corsair sort this out soon, because it's a right pain playing with only 1gb and on Win XP.

Corsair are taking their time replying to my emails. I provided them with the tracking no. and carrier information as they requested. The tracking number says the item has been 'delivered in Netherlands' - but it doesn't make it clear whether that's at their actual premises, or whether that's a Netherlands sorting office. It also says 'thanks for using this service', so I presume that's the end of the tracking process?

In any case, if Corsair have lost it or if the Dutch Postal system have lost it, what happens next? Since I've provided a tracking number, and by extension proof of postage, aren't they obligated to send me a replacement part? I paid ?8 especially for the tracking - looks like I needn't have bothered!

Right now, I've got a good mind to just buy some more RAM from another brand, but the problem there is, once this RMA is sorted out, then I'll be stuck with 4gb from one brand and 4gb from another, and as we know different brands don't generally sit well together. I've experienced that for myself.

Edit: OK, now I'm really pissed off! I've just checked Amazon and DDR3 RAM is so cheap! I could get 4gb of Kingston DDR3 for ?18! My motherboard doesn't support it though, so I've got no option but to go for DDR2.

Finally!

Corsair's RMA page says they received the package today. No idea what happened to it between the track and trace saying it was delivered and now. Judging by Corsair's emails about 'forwarding the info to the warehouse to locate the package', it looks to be the case that whoever received the package at Corsair managed to mislay it. Either way, I should be able to return to 4gb soon so I can go back to Win 7 - and see what this 6850 can really do! God, I hate XP now!

I'll probably do an overnight MemTest on the replacement RAM first to make sure there are no issues. I'll be pretty furious if there are - you'd expect RAM being sent to replace faulty RAM to have been properly tested wouldn't you?
