NBA2k13 - Houston Rockets - Younger. Faster. Fearless

Well Atlanta just choked. Should have had it won with a 13 point lead at 3 quarter time but threw away that lead, and then didn't score a single point in overtime.

Portland Trail Blazers (1-1) v Houston Rockets (2-0)

Portland Trail Blazers
PF - LaMarcus Aldridge
SF - Wesley Matthews
C - J.J. Hickson
PG - Damian Lillard
SG - Nicolas Batum

HOU_zpse37823d1.png

Houston Rockets
PF - Thomas Robinson
SF - Chandler Parsons
C - Omer Asik
PG - Jeremy Lin
SG - James Harden

1st quarter

The game started with high pace basketball, both side exchanging early points. Houston broke the deadlock with 7 straight points before the game went back to being to and fro. Only 2 points were scored in the final 2 and a half minutes, from Eric Maynor, as Houston ended the first quarter ahead.

End of 1st quarter
POR 22-26 HOU
Nicolas Batum 7 pts, 1 reb, 1 ast
James Harden 5 pts, 4 ast

2nd quarter

Houston were out to extend their lead and they did just that as Jeremy Lin banked in an easy jump shot soon after the resumption. Harden was then fouled by Nicolas Batum going for a 3-pointer. The first two went in but the last was off target. Harden cleverly chased after it seeing it wasn't going to drop and fired off a bullet throw to Chandler Parsons, who had retreated outside the arc, for a well played 3-pointer.

LaMarcus Aldridge made his presence felt with 6 straight points to which Harden responded with 6 of his own. He along with Lin were subbed out for Royce White and Patrick Beverley and in conjunction with Parsons continued to extend the lead out to double figures.

End of the 2nd quarter
POR 47-60 HOU
Nicolas Batum 16 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk
James Harden 15 pts, 2 reb, 6 ast

3rd quarter

Portland were far from just merely giving up this contest. The Rockets in their previous two games let their guard down and the game slip slightly. This would happen again in the third quarter.

Portland began the period by tearing out a 13-3 run. Wesley Matthews put home three 3-pointers to leave Houston reeling. Halfway through the third, Damian Lillard popped in a straightforward jump shot to snatch the lead from Houston (67-66). With 2 minutes left, Parsons reclaimed the lead only for it to be almost taken away almost immediately due to a J.J. Hickson 2-pointer. Portland's defence had upped its intensity, holding Houston scoreless for the remainder of the quarter.

End of the 3rd quarter
POR 78-76 HOU
Nicolas Batum 16 pts, 2 reb, 2 ast, 1 blk
Chandler Parsons 20 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl

4th quarter

Lin's trend of turning up his game in the fourth continued against the Trail Blazers. Lin drew a foul off Nolan Smith, put away the 2 free throws and soon after added 2 more to the score. That basket gave Houston back the lead, one that they would not surrender. Parson's continued his good game, especially from range. Lin was everywhere in this quarter, grabbing a steal and offloading to Thomas Robinson with 3 minutes to play. He continued to drive fearlessly to the basket and drawing fouls. Houston scored 31 points in the final quarter, 14 off which came from Lin.

Final
POR 98-107 HOU

A win at their first game at home gives Houston a perfect 3-0 start. Third quarter aside, Houston mostly had it all their way. A quiet game from James Harden but with Chandler Parsons taking the lead and Jeremy Lin coming up big in the fourth, it compensated for his lower returns.

A strong last quarter after throwing away the lead in the third. Going for an undefeated season? :p

Nah, it won't happen. I know that for a fact :spy

I'm not playing btw. If I did, Harden would score 40+ every time he played. I'm simming the game and everything is based on my tactics, minute allocations and subs.

Yeah, probably a good idea. It's an 82 or whatever game season, just too long to do match reports that take forever :p

But yeah, this forum is extremely quiet so I just comment to make sure you know someone is reading :p
