PlanetCricket Basketball XV - Discussions and Results

I'd like to point out that I've decided to call our team the Prowlers, at least for this game if there are objections. :D

Sept 14: Memphis Grizzlies at PCXV Prowlers

The PCXV recorded their third win of the season as they put an end to their losing streak by beating the Memphis Grizzlies in a nail biter. Solid contributions from Spinks and Covvy, who further solidified their positions, saw the PCXV snatch a victory in the final minute of the game. Damon Stoudamire and Rudy Gay did well to keep their opponents on their toes with their hot shooting while Eddie Jones snatched the ball away from the Prowlers enough times to put a dent in their game plan. Despite this, and a half hearted effort from the bench, the PlanetCricket starting lineup put their work in to squeeze out a win.

After trailing by as much as 5 points in the second quarter, PCXV were able to tie things up at the end of the first half. The Prowlers took their first lead of the game with a basket with their first possession of the third period and never lost it, even with the Grizzlies trailing behind a field goal for most of the game. With Memphis trailing by a solitary field goal with only a few seconds to go, their gamble by intentionally fouling Edmonds was a game losing one. The PCXV went on to win the game by 4 points thanks partially to Covvy's double-double (almost made it his second triple-double).

I was all about the steals. ;)

Scored a few points, would of prefered more but 14's good. Nice to see us win aswell. Well done Prowlers.

Looks like I foul too much. Got 11 points and 4 assists in 21 minutes. If I played double that I'd almost have a double-double!

Sept 16: Sacramento Kings at PCXV Prowlers

The PCXV catapulted themselves ahead of Portland to top the Northwest Division by hanging on to a win against the Kings. Spinks delivered once again to put his team ahead while the Prowlers' bench doubled in terms of points what the Kings' bench could deliver. Mehta was the driving force from the bench. He helped the team hold off Sacramento with his watchful defense. Spinks' performance put him ahead of Edmonds as the top scorer for the team in this season.

After staying neck to neck with the Kings through the first quarter, the Prowlers held off Sacramento in the second to take a 10 point lead at half time. Unfortunately for the Kings, no matter how hard they worked, they were never able to erase that deficit. After taking the third period by two points, Sacramento's starters (Bibby, Wells, Artest) took the game to the Prowlers as the fourth quarter was one all fans enjoyed. There were 75 points scored in the period between the two teams as the visitors came painfully close to winning the game but failed to take it all way.

Game MVP: N Spinks
