Network Game on Windows Vista. HELP!

hey. ive a problem for a while. i havent been able to play a network game on my vista laptop. when i click network game it automatically downloads a patch and tries to run it once its finished. however, when it tries to run the patch it decides to give me an error message. this process repeats itself over and over again. is there anything i can do to prevent this?

any help would be very appreciated

Can you play the game on your own PC, without using a network game?

What version do you have?

It's quite for people to have problems with Vista and using older games, it might be a compatibility problem.

its fine on the normal game yes. that works perfect, no crashing etc *touch wood*

well.. i think i have the basic version.. as it wont let me install the patches.. so nothing has been updated.

I meant which version of ICC, ICC3, ICC2006 Ashes Edition, etc.

It could be a compatibility problem as I said above, try running the game in XP compatible mode. I did post a link to Microsoft's website in a thread, it should be below this thread in the ICC forum.

Oh, sorry. Its ICC3.

i tried using the technique on the link you provided on both where the patch was installed and also on the game itself. still no joy im afraid.

has anyone had this issue before?

Nope, I've got Vista Ultimate running and ICC3 and it works perfectly

I'm a bit lost for ideas. Is it the boxed version of ICC3 or is it the one you can buy on-line?

its the boxed version.
