New Server Issues Thread

Yeah, I'm on the verge of not bothering to log onto PC anymore. 9/10 I get this message when trying to get onto PC:

Oops! This link appears broken. DNS error occurred. Server cannot be found.

For an absolutely awful fix that may probably work, but should be the last resort after trying all I mentioned in my previous post.

Open My Computer and go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc
Open the file called 'hosts' in Notepad and add the following line to the bottom:
74.84.131.45 [noparse]www.planetcricket.org[/noparse]

Save that and try to connect.

I often get this message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at PlanetCricket.

Let's try to troubleshoot the problem:

* Check Internet connection: Your Internet connection seems to be working!

* Try to perform some diagnostic tests:

General troubleshooting tips

* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
Example Web Page

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web

* This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.

* If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.

Or you can add an exception...

You should not add an exception if you are using an internet connection that you do not trust completely or if you are not used to seeing a warning for this server.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can usually get onto the site, but it often takes several attempts. This is happening more since the move to the new server.

well this is certainly strange i just viewed planetcricket right now at it started working?? this is at home now before in this thread i said i couldn't access PC at home. funny enough i checked the site about an hour ago and it would even work the same error came up server can not be found...

For what it's worth, I haven't had a single problem since the new server move. Everything works perfectly.

Did you guys try using Google's public DNS?

I got a error,and here's the page source:
Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head>
<title>500 Internal Server Error</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Internal Server Error</h1>
<p>The server encountered an internal error or
misconfiguration and was unable to complete
your request.</p>
<p>Please contact the server administrator,
root@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred,
and anything you might have done that may have
caused the error.</p>
<p>More information about this error may be available
in the server error log.</p>
<hr>
<address>Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at www.planetcricket.org Port 80</address>
</body></html>

Whenever I get a problem, all I have to do is refresh the page and it's fine again?
