New Zealand Premier League XIII

@ Franklin - Yes, he's a more than capable batsmen.

It's actually interesting to note that most teams have strengthened, or stayed the same over the off-season. ;)

@ Afridi - Remember there are no aggression values with cricksim. :p

Vettori is better in general than Afridi, all he has going for him is his ability to hit big sixes. Vettori is capable of scoring at more than a run a ball without having to resort to smashing the ball as hard as possible. He's a better batsman by far.

you must've rated afridi as a better batsman than vettori in odi's though.

They're actually rated very similar.
Over their career Afridi has been the better batsmen, but in 2009 Vettori almost averaged ten better with the bat than what Afridi did in ODI's.
The reason he has Vettori above Afridi is, Afridi done nothing at all with the bat last season.

I reckon I've increased my squad strengths by a fair way since last season.

Last Season Starting XI

1. Andrew Strauss
2. Kumar Sangakkara
3. Ricky Ponting

4. Grant Elliott^
5. Neil Broom
6. Peter Fulton
7. Chris Cairns^
8. Nathan Hauritz^
9. Kyle Mills^
10. James Anderson^
11. Lance Shaw^

And a likely starting XI this season is:

1. Tim McIntosh
2. Aaron Redmond^
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Daniel Flynn
5. Peter Fulton/Umar Akmal
6. Grant Elliott^
7. Gareth Hopkins/Kumar Sangakkara+ (although Sangakkara would be further up the order probably.
8. Nathan Hauritz^
9. Kyle Mills^
10. James Anderson^
11. Kemar Roach^

I've really lost Broom, Cairns, Griggs and Strauss (who was a load of ████ last season) and gained McIntosh, Redmond, Flynn, Hopkins, Bravo and even Roach and Akmal. Really sad to have lost one of the Auckland Faithfuls but hopefully it will turn out for the better.

Also note that with the second XI, either Akmal and Hopkins would play or Fulton and Sangakkara.

i dropped mcintosh, redmond and flynn because they were crap for me they might play better for auckland.

TBH none of mcintosh, redmond or flynn had a great last season.
They only played in 12 out a possible 36 matches between them.

Oh,my bad!!! :doh:doh:doh
Extremely sorry about that! :facepalm
The defeat was so shocking that i posted the feedback in the wrong thread :laugh

I like my squad better now. Even though I only have them for this season I have a few NZ cricket legends. My NZ players were woeful in the previous seasons so I needed a change, even if short term.

Will probably do with something like:

Sachin Tendulkar
Chris Gayle *
Nathan Astle
Kevin Pietersen
Peter Ingram
MS Dhoni (WK)
Chris Cairns *
Chris Harris *
Tim Southee *
Brent Arnel *
Muttiah Muralitharan / Brett Lee *

I have much better depth in all departments - especially all-rounders. If I need another bowler i'll drop out Pietersen or or both Dhoni (Adding Papps as WK) and play Lee/Taylor/Murili/Razzaq

This will be my probable XI for most of the games

1. Rahul Dravid
2. Martin Guptill
3. Michael Parlane
4. Jacques Kallis
5. Mohammad Yousuf
6. Kane Willamson
7. Chris Nevin (wk)
8. Joseph Yovich/Kieran Noema-Barnett/Irfan Pathan
9. Andre Adams (c)
10. Makhaya Ntini/Rana Naved
11. Andy McKay/Carl Frauenstein/Ajantha Mendis

Got more all-rounders this season and strengthened my lower middle-order quite alot. The only set place is of rahul dravid he's always going to open if he plays.

btw callum can i choose what i want mendis to play as (os/ls) before every match?
