Thanks. Good game man, bad luck. My batsmen fired for me and it proved too much for your guys to chase.
I better do a little bit of a speech.
Firstly I want to say that even though I only started half way through, i've had a lot of fun doing this and can't wait until the next one so I can try to defend the trophy.
Thanks to all the other teams, they were all good sports about it and there were some real good/close games. Especially to Hawkes Bay and nz0003 who came runner up.
A huge thanks to CG123 for putting all the time and effort into running this. He did an outstanding job, was very quick posting everything and sending notifications. Also thanks for him for offering me the opportunity of taking over the Canterbury side. It's members like him and stuff like this that makes PlanetCricket worth visiting regularly.
Very proud of my team, was a bit iffy at the start about some of my NZ players but most of them chipped in very well. Flynn was one of my surprise stars. The bowlers were all very experienced - Arnel, Thompson and Harris and did a great job.
As far as the stars went, when you can't fit Bravo or Malinga in your A side you know you have some great international talent. Tendulkar was the star with the bat, his consistency at the top of the order is a huge reason why I did so well. He was backed up superbly by my Captain Dhoni and Pietersen was also fantastic. I elevated him in the last final and i'm glad I did. I should have had him at number 3 the whole time, but even at 4 he was pivotal in a lot of wins. Bracken was exceptional with the ball, the tournament's best bowler. Bowled at great economy and got top/middle order wickets.
Can't wait til next time. I call this beginner's luck haha.
