New Zealand tour of India (Sept-Oct 2016)

Players wearing the jersey with their mother's names
Does this make any sense ?
They all show in ads that they were wearing their father's names jersey

LOL ! :lol Boys should have boys type of names so how does it show father's name

:facepalm:facepalm

Everyone should be recognised with their own names ![DOUBLEPOST=1477728362][/DOUBLEPOST]If this is the trend then the players should always wear their mother's names & never switch back

Why to wear for just one day ? :facepalm
Typical Indian Mentality.... Why do you object to them wearing their mothers name...

Too bad he's on my ignore list.

I think it was very sweet ! A very nice gesture - most of our society is patriarchal as in we take our father's last name and the wife tends to take the husband's last name (except in some states). So such a gesture by the country's most popular sports team is quite admirable

Went to the washroom ........missed the complete nz collapse.
from 66-2 to 79 all out.

The whole point of it is that it is because of their mothers they are playing that very moment steamrolling NZ. How else can they thank their mothers? You can tell this guy doesn't care about this sweet gesture and only wants the real Player names on their jersey.

Are you serious ? What surname do most of the people have ? It's father's. This is the tradition most of us are following. Why shouldn't mother's name be included ?

The initiative taken by Indian players to wear the shirt with their mother's name is indeed huge and should be respected. They deserve to be mentioned as much father's name does. No one questions when they have their father's name but why should it be questioned when mother's name is mentioned ?

RCB will put on green jersey to support go green every season. I hope Indians continue this more often.

Coming back to the match, it was dominated by Indians. NZ lost the match when Kane was dismissed. I think Kedhar played really well in the end to help us reach that total. Hope he is selected in next series too.

I agree with you 100%. From birth, your mother has more significance than the father. This is because your mother was the one who brought you in this world, took care of you, and cuddled you and fed you and you woke her up with your cries in the middle of the night, and her sleep was disturbed. So, really what better way to thank the mothers? Mothers need to get more recognition than the father. It was truly heartening to see the Indian players having their mother's names on the back of their jersey. I hope they this more too, and they should definitely put the mother's first names on the back of every team in the world who is playing cricket on that day, and father's first name for Father's day matches. That way we are recognizing the efforts of both parents.

I have nothing against mothers name on jersey, but I've had this doubt when RCB players use Twitter handles on jerseys on the GoGreen match, but isn't it 'breaking some rule' not to have the player name on the jersey?

If there are logistical issues (for someone who has been a last moment replacement and he finds himself into XI overnight), agreed, but isn't having the players name in place breaking some sort of rule which is meant to be followed?

We could actually use two name system in these occasions, the name above jersey number, your name. The name below the jersey number- up to the player if they want one. Mother, father, better half, idol- whoever it is.

I think the only rule the boards and ICC care about are the placement of the logos from the sponsors
