Pre-Match Conference

3 days later....

PRE-MATCH INTERVIEW

Mark Taylor: Hello Stephen (Fleming) and Graeme (Smith).
Stephen Fleming: Hi!
Graeme Smith: Hey!
Richie Benaud: Stephen, are you confident of beating South Africa?
Stephen Fleming: In the one dayers, yes. In the tests, I think we have a bit of a chance.
Mark Taylor: Graeme, who is your teams main opponents?
Graeme Smith: Well Mark, Stephen (Fleming) here is one and Chris Cairns would be another.
Richie Benaud: Graeme, were you worried with the contract disputes?
Graeme Smith: Certainly, I had a feeling it would all work out though.

Richie Benaud: Stephen, when South Africa were having inside trouble, did you ever feel worried that the tour could be cancelled?

Stephen Fleming: No, my team and I felt very good as we expected the South Africans' to pull through.
Mark Taylor: Well thanks for that Stephen and Graeme. I expect to see one of you or your teammates at lunch.

Before the match Mark Taylor interviews John Bracewell - New Zealand Coach

Mark Taylor: Hello John, thanks for chatting with us.
John Bracewell: No problem.
Mark Taylor: John, how do you feel about the South African selectors choices?
John Bracewell: Good, it seems the South Africans aren't ready after their contract disputes. We hope that may have weakened them.
Mark Taylor: What do you think about your own line up?[
John Bracewell: Okay, we feel we've made the right choices.
Mark Taylor: Do you think Chris Cairns and Stephen Fleming are fine with facing Pollock and Kallis?
John Bracewell: Yes, we've practiced against other bowlers with similar styles. Well, I've gotta get back to my squad. Bye.
Mark Taylor: Thanks for that. See you.

Match starts Tuesday. Real life commitments stop me from continuing tommorow or Monday.

Interview with Chris Harris after his 47.

Harris appeals unsucessfully at a leg before wicket chance against Ontong, missing out on a lone wicket.

Mark Taylor: Chris, how does 47 feel? Stephen (Fleming) miised out on a century and you missed out on fifty.
Chris Harris: Dissapointed, still glad to do my bit.
Mark Taylor: How about missing out on a wicket against Ontong?
Chris Harris: Bad, he got 28 and could have won it for them...
