Rugby League Official NRL 2010 thread

Well I haven't seen a Warriors home game in a while but I can definitely remember a few years ago where he was ridiculously bias towards the Warriors. Maybe hes changed or the other commentators more than make up for the bias needed!

Warriors out to snab stars from 2011 RWC

I don't know if this would be good or bad, I mean do I want the All Blacks stronger or the Warriors stronger  Actually if we won the rugby world cup this would be brilliant if the Warriors could get those two. Out of any NZ Rugby Union players they're the two that would be awesome in league. Imagine that Rene Ranger right centre/wing and Hosea Gear on the left with MAnu!

I think the Warriors main focus after the RWC is SBW though. Although they wont be able to offer him half of what these French clubs are throwing at him.

Jerome Ropati at full back, please god watch over him, this could be very ugly. :facepalm
So the Warriors should get Brett White (quite Ironic that he knocked the guy out who he's replacing in SOO) and May get Steve Matai, although Manly are keen to keep him. The one we're really after, Adam Blair looks less likely now.

Well well well, I take that back! Ropati was magnificent tonight, better that Hohia could ever do and I'd be tempted to keep him back there as Brown was brilliant in the centres (what more do you expect from someone as versatile as Brown though). Brilliant win, 3 in a row, absolute domination. Take a bow the Warriors pack, made so many easy metres and guys like mannering hit the gaps brilliantly.

Top win for New Zealand. Hopefully you boys can keep this form up and start to get somewhere with this season, because next season with Mateo and Inu it should only get better for you. But if this season is a disaster it would be hard to turn it completely around...

Top of the table clash tonight. Real excited. Looks like it may rain thouh.

Wow... just wow.
12-6 what a defensive effort, simply amazing.
We were tackeled 8 times in the Panthers 20m. They were Tackled 59 times in our 20, and only scored once, the best defense I've seen in my life time of watching league.

Great to hear Dugan is re-signing for another year, hopefully we can start building our club up again and he will stay when his contract expires again.

No team in the NRL should win when the referee does everything humanly possible to deny them. But somehow the Warriors did, and they do it quite often. I know referees are going to have bad games, and I accept that, but blatant cheating is not on. There's probably no point in me going on about it, because everyone knows that referees are against the NEW ZEALAND Warriors, none more than Shane Hayne. Will he get a suspension? of course not although some action should be taken for pathetic performances like that.

The positive things I noticed were the commentators, so much better than the biased muppet we have for our home games. They were even bagging the ref, and that doesn't happen too often.

The thing I like about Ivan Cleary is he isn't afraid to say the truth. Although he could be a little more aggressive and rip these pathetic excuses for refs to shreds. His idea the other week was "Maybe I should just come out and have a go at the refs and just cop the $10,000 fine, because maybe then we would get a fair chance in every game". (something along those lines)
He also showed his frustration towards them after the match Interview: Ivan Cleary - ABC Sydney - Australian Broadcasting Corporation But should've said more.

As you can tell I hate the NRL refs, mainly because so often they ruin the game and it gets bloody frustrating. And before anyone says anything, it doesn't happen to every team, I'm a keen NRL follower and it couldn't be more obvious to me. They're bloody lucky we won yesterday.
Maybe it's time I got over it and accepted that we're hard done by and some refs will do anything they can to stop a New Zealand team from winning an Aussie comp. But gee they wind me up! :laugh:laugh

Rant over, and I wont be surprised if it doesn't make sense because I'm very very grumpy right now and it's past my bed time! Grrrr

I also realise that most of you guys wont agree with me :p

I agree with you completely. The outcome of games should not be determined by consistent refereeing errors. Actually, I wouldn't mind having a referral system in Rugby League!

I'd be happy to see the Warriors win the competition. They work hard and are passionate about the game.

I know a lot of teams are hard done by from the refs, and when I think about it there are so many games that are determined by poor refereeing. Something needs to be done about it, because sometimes these calls can cost a team the whole season of hard work. I stand by my claims of some referees being biased against the Warriors, heck every Warriors fan you speak to has no doubt about it. Maybe your idea of some sort of referral system could work, but teams would have to use it when they are sure of a wrong call, or else the game would be constantly slowed down.

Former Kangaroos coach Bob Fulton had a go at the refs after the Warriors Penrith game. He said: "Shayne Hayne, hang your head in shame. You have produced the worst refereeing performance in the last 20 years".

It seems like a few people are coming out and saying it how it is now. About time.

Here's a link to the article NRL refs are the worst in 50 years

Finally the teams looking good for its run to the playoffs. 4 of our injured players are back this week :D. The main one we need, Rapira, still isn't back though. He and a couple more should be back in the next few weeks though. The downside is that as 4 come back another 2 have gone down.
Hopefully Matai takes our offer, although he is a huge gamble.

Hard to compare to something I haven't seen but the refs this year have been below par to previous years. So many dud calls of late.
