Rugby League Official NRL 2010 thread

What is that power play thing? wtf? And quarter time too? It's just ruining an otherwise good game. A lot of errors so far, but the intensity has been there. A good watch so far. I forgot how much I missed league.

I like and understand the idea of the quarters but to be honest those powerplays are a waste and a joke.

How were the powerplays used? I heard it mentioned but since I kept switching channels never saw it.

Dragons jersey looked so weird, I thought they were the Roosters at times. Of the bits I saw, both teams looked good and should be in for a good year.

Tigers, Roosters and Panthers with big wins, the first two are looking good. Raiders look to be in for another long season.

Yeah, stupid jerseys.

Our defence on the inside ball still sucks ass. Our attack was promising, but i remember a few sets where players were overrunning the ball, bad passes, catching the ball while still etc. Hopefully it is just rust.

Geez injuries already. Dugan in doubt for the opener but should make it, now TLL has gone from missing 2 weeks to maybe 8 weeks.

All star game is on saturday. Sorta looking forward to it, not really though. I never really get into these types of games. I don't even really get into Australia games, and sometimes even NSW games. Don't get me wrong, I'm still passionate for the Blues, but it's all about St George, thats where the passion is for me. Pumped for the new season.

Here Here, it was good to see Body get more involved though, also going to be out at Parra round 1, should be good.

I went to the double header in Gosford, my thoughts:

*Sharks look like they haven't improved at all
*Lui from the tigers played well as did Farrah, Tigers will do well this year.
*Carney isn't a FB but he cut Parra to pieces.

Probably all know but...

Oh, I wish I could get to Parra =/

The bit about the Sharks makes me happy. Haha.

Just checked out the draw, my initial thoughts are good;
- All the WIN Jubilee games are at the back end of the season (Y)
- We play Roosters at the SFS (H) and SCG (A)
- Last game of the season is vs Rabbits at Win Jubilee - really should win that which could help if it's a game to decide top 8/top 4/minor premiership.

To counter that though, we have a pretty hard first month. Parra, Bulldogs, Cowboys, Broncos and Storm.

Well, if you look at it as we normally lose our first 6 games anyway, it's good to get them out of the way :p

For those that like their Fantasy NRL, if you are a member at LU, nearly sports is offering a free private comp for LU Nearly Sport Private Competition - The Front Row Forum :: Rugby League
2 more spots to fill.

You got any tips for one of these things Syl? My comps bidding started last night and I pretty much have no idea how much to spend on certain guys. How much do good Fullbacks, 5/8th's, halfbacks, hookers and backrowers usually go for? Would I have have to usually double/triple thier min bids?

Usually the good players go for 500k so if you badly want them bid 600k and you should get them. If you are in the public comp you don't know if someone else is bidding on that player unless there are 3 or more bids. So you might want to slightly up the min bid.

From what I've learned, make sure you bid on a few fullbacks, centres and hookers as once the first bidding process is over you will be in a real bidding war for the left overs. And from what I noticed you can get some good players for around 200-300k like Justin Poore, Luke O'Donnell.

In my second try which was the private comp I listed above, I managed to get Slater and Hayne for 600k and 800k respectively but the next highest bidders were around 500k.

Last point, make sure you take a look at last years stats so you know which forwards to get, you want the ones with about 8+ dominant forward tries. For backs obviously tries but also the dominant player tries are useful.

Sweet, cheers for that. Yeah the comp I'm in is private so I can see how many bids each guy I'm going after has (which is handy). What about back rowers like your Staggs, Ryan's, Harrison's, how much would you bid on those types of guys 250-300?
