Praying to God that the Netflix documentary actually happens, and the tour is a great one. Can’t wait!I recently listened to an hour-long frank interview or more like chit-chat of PCB'S CEO Wasim Khan. He made some interesting points.
- Imran Khan was very keen to have a Pakistani head coach and Misbah was the only option for PCB. As far as his chief selector role is concerned, Wasim Khan said that there wasn't a single decent application from a Pakistani for the role (except Rashid Latif who backed out later on) and they strictly wanted a Pakistani for that role. They pitched the idea of the dual-role to Misbah who obliged.
- Netflix and PCB are working on a series in the footsteps of 'The Test' on Amazon Prime. It will be based around the 2022 tour of Eng, with dressing room footage and all
- PCB is bidding for 8 ICC events in the 2023-2027 FTP cycle, including a joint bid with the UAE - of course, they won't get more than a couple. Also, no more 2-match Test series in the next FTP cycle. All series will have 3 Tests at a minimum.
- A merchandise store is being set-up outside the PCB HQ, Gadaffi Stadium Lahore
- For the first time in history, players are now being groomed by the PCB regarding media handling + English language skills, and Babar Azam has a specialist person hired by the PCB for grooming him regarding his language skills, personality, dressing, and media handling etc.
- PCB is working on a global OTT service which should be up in a year or so. The service would be paid and have live streams and all content regarding Pakistan Cricket.
- PCB is trying its level best to secure COVID vaccine for the players and support staff to get rid of biosecure bubbles, or at least ease the restrictions
- Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf have worked brilliantly so far in the national setup and NHPC, respectively. PCB has received great feedback from the players.
- PCB employees are now contractually restricted from running their own YouTube channels.
- A new PM can not bring in his own PCB chairman legally now. The board will be independent and the Board of Governors will decide the chairman, meaning the political involvement would be restricted.
- Asia Cup 2022 would be hosted in Pakistan
Wasim Khan and this regime have done brilliant work so far. Entire PSL, SA, BAN, SL and ENG, in Pakistan + being the only board in the world to announce and complete the entire domestic calendar in spite of COVID. Also, don't forget their signing of deals with SuperSports, Sky, Sony, PTV, and Willow.
The corporate work of Pakistan Cricket is sorted. The team just needs to start performing well regularly now.
Netflix documentary would definitely happen but my concern is that it will probably be censored heavily or not be allowed to release in Pakistan or even globally for reasons I probably don't need to explain. Players swearing, fighting and their disagreements going on-air would bring in a new flood of controversies. Pakistan isn't the same as Australia where Usman Khawaja can have a heated argument with Justin Langer and both avoid major repercussions.Praying to God that the Netflix documentary actually happens, and the tour is a great one. Hopefully the part about no more political interference is true, but i already know that there will be a mess after a party other than PTI wins the elections. Courts will get involved for sure. We just have to wait for it now.
So far, this administration is the most competent in ages.
Well, maybe the uncensored version will be available outside PakistanNetflix documentary would definitely happen but my concern is that it will probably be censored heavily or not be allowed to release in Pakistan or even globally for reasons I probably don't need to explain. Agree with the rest of your points
I really want India and Pakistan to qualify so that I can see an India Pakistan test match live in my lifetimeGreat point. No excuse to not qualify.
Imagine if the next WTC final is at Eden Gardens, and it’s an India-Pakistan match?I really want India and Pakistan to qualify so that I can see an India Pakistan test match live in my lifetime
We don't have a Sachin to stop the crowd controversy this time.Imagine if the next WTC final is at Eden Gardens, and it’s an India-Pakistan match?
I see no reason why Pakistan can't qualify in the next cycle since their home series are against England, New Zealand and Australia while their away series are Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and West Indies.Imagine if the next WTC final is at Eden Gardens, and it’s an India-Pakistan match?
It’s Pakistan, you don’t need to see any reason to mess upI see no reason why Pakistan can't qualify in the next cycle since their home series are against England, New Zealand and Australia while their away series are Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and West Indies.
Hafeez is definitely in the form of his life. Just hope his relation with PCB doesn't go the same route that Amir's did, because he is quite unhappy atm. And PCB aren't exactly trying to smooth things over.Hafeez and Rizwan seem to be in some seriously good form in T20s recently.
There is nothing he cant do!
