Pakistan

i dont think we should drop rehman because i feel we need 2 front line spinners as Hafeez is not that good he can contain but can't bring too many wickets

Yeah we need a pacer and i think that we should drop Shahzad and bring kami as an opener then we can only get the 3rd seamer

our batting is doing quite well a good middle order and a firing lower order.the only problem i see is our attack bowling.Razzaq is not the man to be trusted for this job.we better bring Riaz or may be Junaid in

Yes we will need an extra seamer against better team. Wahab Riaz should be given the opportunity in main matches and Junaid can be tested against minnows.

Pakistan will be too generous if they allow Razzaq to bowl against Srilanka because Dilshan will easily score 40-50in Razzaq's opening spell. We need to have Junaid or Wahab there in the team in place of Razzaq maybe or even they can drop Ahmed Shehzad and put Kamran Akmal as an opener.
They need to sort this balance problem as early as possible.

Also I hope our pacers remember how Aamir Got Dilshan in that T20 final. We should have another fast bowler open with shoaib to counter Dilshan. A 145KPH sharp rising delivery is the best weapon against him. Razzaq will serve as cannon fodder for Dilshan.

Yeah! for that Junaid Khan will serve as best choice plus he is a little quicker then Wahab.

I read a couple days ago an article, where was written that Pakistan didn't want Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq bat together, because they would slow the runrate. The author of that article is probably not amused about what happened today, because his comments (wherever he got them from) really backfired: 10th Match, Group A: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Colombo (RPS), Feb 26, 2011 | Cricket Fall of wickets and partnerships | ESPN Cricinfo

Next match is against Canada and Pakistan really should give a chance to the reserve players.

They should try Umar with the gloves and drop Kamran Akmal for Wahab Riaz. Junaid must come in for Shoaib and Ajmal for Rehman/Gul.

the main problem is that we didn't select any reserve keeper and we all know how flat can kami go at times.i dont think putting Umar as a keeper will gonna help as.replacing a keeper with a make shift keeper wont be a good idea.it will atleast give us a choice of bringing a seamer but not gonna solve the keeping problem and in conditions like this, where our spinners are turning the bowl big time i dont think Umar akmal will be able to produce something special behind the wicket

Pakistan needs an extra bowler. Either bring a spinner or a seamer depending upon the pitch conditions. I think top 3 batsmen should stay as it is. The only problem I feel in the batting order is the bringing of Razzaq at Number 8th.

I think we should, drop Shahzad and play Hafeez and Kamran (we don't have another choice :facepalm) as openers.Playing Razzaq at 8 on is just like wasting him.Bring in Junaid (we need to try him) and try him with the new ball with Shoaib.

Meh, If i was the one making the calls I would pick Razzaq at 3 for the next game and see what he comes up with. The key thing about tournnament like this is to ensure all your players are in atleast some sort of form.

You guys don't seem to realize why Razzaq is at 8. The way the Pak team is structured atm - the main role of Afridi and Razzaq and to some extent UAkmal, is to fire quick 20-30 runs at the end. The fact that they know a big hitter is coming after them, Afridi and Akmal can play their natural and aggressive shots. And if they get caught out, Razzaq comes in to finish things of (which he can, as seen by those last 2 overs against England during the 4th ODI).

There is no need for Razzaq to come in at 3, or play those gob-smacking, match-winning knocks because the batting, for once, is pretty solid.

Bowling's not too bad either. Razzaq was decent with the new-ball against SL, and if Akmal could keep and Pak could field, it would have been a very easy win for Pak.

The fact that you guys have bowlers like Riaz and Ajmal in the bench - it just shows the depth of your bowling attack. The only thing I would change is Ajaml for Rehman, and Riaz for Akhtar for the non-important games.

Against Canada, I would tempted to rest both Gul and Akhtar, and bowl both Junaid and Riaz for an easy comparison between the two left-armers.

And Hafeez isn't too shabby for a 6th bowler. Ties one end down, and can take crucial wickets. Did so in England, and against SL when he took the first one.

Yep well said.

Also Asad shafiq should be tried in place of misbah, he needs rest IMO!

I'm sure they'll play him against Canada, especially considering Misbah's side-strain.

The return of Misbah and Younis has completly changed the outlook to Pak's batting. If Asif and Aamir weren't crooks, Pak could easily have been one of the strongest teams in the world. Off-topic, but this could have been a very competitive Test XI:

M Hafeez
T Umar
A Ali
Y Khan
M Ul-Haq
A Shafiq
A Akmal
U Gul
M Aamir
S Ajmal
M Asif
