3. Pull/hook and cut shots invariably go in the air. IMO pull and cut shots were nailed pretty well prior to the 2nd patch and should be reverted. Now you can't play a short ball to the leg if "Square Leg" or "Forward Square Leg" is in place, which is the case most of the times. This would be my highest priority to fix as it impacts gameplay directly.
I would agree tentatively with this, but I think a lot of peoples problem is playing off the back foot. It's not nearly as hard as people think, it's possible to nail a yorker off the back foot if it's not too full.
I think if you are playing a ball at head height on the hook you have next to no chance of keeping it down so that being replicated in the game is a good thing. Yes, I get out hooking a lot. should I be hooking? probably not. if you play on the back foot it tends to do a glance.
however the hook and pull are different, I'd like to see pull shots perhaps a little more towards the ground, if you pull a half-tracker that's about stomach height a good stroke should see it fly closer to the ground. similarly, if you get up on your toes on the back foot and play a more chest height ball nailing it would go along the ground.
the annoying thing for me is not hooking a fast bowler to square leg, I shouldn't be doing that (and if I'm going for it I can attack it with the 6 button and it will comfortably fly over him for 4 or 6) it is annoying pulling a medium pacers dolly through the air though.
I wish we could change buttons, I think if possible I'd change the triggers and the shoulder buttons, jamming down the triggers in the heat of the moment just doesn't feel safe enough and the fact they're analogue doesn't really seem to matter.
*this post was made based on experiences with a career player, so maybe a 23 year old batsman with high flat bat skills will keep hooks and pulls down. I doubt it though.
