Patch#2 Notes - Patch is Live

They actually do owe us patches, given the amount of money this game costs and the severity of the bugs

As I said in another thread, bug severity is not open ended in the industry. It is basically set out like:
Class 1) Unshippable
Class 2) Incredibly detrimental
Class 3) Annoying
Class 4) Suggestion

I would say that YES, they owed you any class 1 fixes. There are no class 1 bugs in DBC. There are maybe 2 class 2's. Some 3's. LOTS of 4s.

You are incredibly fortunate that a developer would consider fixing anything other than a class 1 in a patch.

I'm quoting chief here for ref: so people actually know the difference between bugs and gampelay balance and pushing out patches.
Patches, in those days, cost huge amounts of money on console and were only ever generally done if something incredibly serious was wrong with the game. Like category 1 bugs only (basically things that make it unshippable: repeatable hangs, progression issues). The only bugs in AC09 by industry standards (but not here) were category 3 at best: *maybe* the run-out issues were nudging a category 2. Even without the turmoil at the developer I doubt a console patch would have been sanctioned (or even remotely arguable).

Game updates are commonplace and actually demonstrate that the developers are responsive. Game updates are a good thing and every game that comes out has some bugs in it. This game was a real pain until the first update. the second update will improve things even more. This is my favourite game of the year. Sadly i just don't have enough time to play as often as i would like.
I am not sure why so many are getting uptight about the update process. its normal in the gaming world

The run out bug before update1 was a significant bug. In the context of the game It rendered the game almost unplayable.
In the UK we have the sale of goods act. I would say that before update 1 the severity of the bugs meant that this game almost fell foul of the act
How long have you been playing games? Is the this first time you have played a video game? Updates are commonplace. Some games even need a day 1 update they are so bugged

Can I just simply say, ladies and gentlemen, we have a Cricket Game! This game was good, a patch is coming to make it better, so what is the problem? Yes a slight wait but considering the effort made by big ant to listen to us and then react we should be very happy.

In the patch, there are some changes to career mode (ie. you can move up and down the batting order). Will these changes happen with a current career mode or only those started after the patch?

Fifa is broken every year without fail despite huge budgets.
EA doesn't bat an eyelid and just ignores forums. We have people here abusing developers for going the extra mile!

Almost totally agree. Class 2 "incredibly detrimental" doesn't sound like something a consumer should have to put up with and to me should be fixed. If there was a class in the middle with "Highly annoying" and you said that Class 3,4 & 5 we should count ourselves lucky to get a patch then I'd completely agree.

Not trying to be nit-picky, but do agree for the most part with your point.

Yes it was significant. ALMOST unplayable... But certainly nothing that contravened the sale of goods act: it was fit for purpose. To ask for a refund would be like asking for a refund in the cinema because you thought the movie was really bad.

Here you have a developer saying: "OK, they were things you didn't like about the movie. How about we change it, to your specifications, FOR FREE?"

And yes. This is the first time that I have played a video game. :)

seriously
The only place they had technical issues was online that too on wireless, everything else is game balancing, when did game balancing become bug fixing.

I second that. This game is anything but "lazy programming". Makes me angry hearing comments like that.

I've played several games online, and after patch 1, the game was and still is immensely enjoyable.

People are looking hard to find faults and not enjoy all the good aspects.

This debate is a bit like being at a trainspotters convention. Some of you are so naive and uninformed. Does anyone remember when skyrim came out. The bugs were so bad, some of the worst ever seen. But the devs slowly fixed them. Yes they knew when they released the game that it was bugged just as the devs for this game must have known it was bugged. the only way not to know was not to try it out before it was released. ALL responsible devs release updates. Those who don't release updates, tend not to last long in this industry.
I love this game. But only after update 1. before that it was a nightmare at times when i had crafted a good score only to be run out because of a bug.
Yes it has been fixed. And for that I am thankful. I will now leave this polemical thread behind and get back to my third season for Yorkshire.
Happy gaming

How many trainspotters conventions have you been to? Or is that simile based just on other people's accounts of them? I just worry that if it is, people may consider that na?ve and uninformed...
