Since when? A lot of people go for simple and absolutely fail. Simple is meant to look clean and easy but not take 1 minute... eg entry 10 is so smooth and clean yet I bet it took a long time.

I made a Ricky Ponting avatar somewhere back in this competition, it took about 20-30 minutes, I applied lightning effect and a little bit of selective color and you gave me 0 and wrote "No effort in that".
