Yeah, it was but it also has Apple monopoly written all over it, not to mention the limited number of file formats it supports.

Mac is better for some people, PC for others. For the not so handy users, and the graphic designers etc, Mac is the way to go. For the others, gamers, power users, and many other categories a PC is better.

Bump....

Just having a look through the search and found this thread.

Seeing as though I recently got a mac I thought I would voice my opinion on it.

I changed to a mac because it took me over 12 and a half years to realise pc's are utter ████. Well maybe thats a bit to harsh, I should say, it took me a year and a half to realise vista was ████. So after a few months saving I got a mac. And it just works...I mean, right out of the box you have everything you need, with the ilife suite, other then the exception of already built in powerful word processing apps, it was great to use form the get go.

In most cases, you don't need to physically install a app, you just drag the icon to the apps folder and bing, its installed, to get rid of one you drag it to the trash and poof, its gone. It is all really simple.

The other reason I got a mac is because a couple of weeks before I got one I found out you could run windows on a mac. So that was pretty much the final nail in the coffin and I got one.

Anyway that's my opinion, Vista<OS X. However I have heard good things about W7, sooo.. im just saying...

The first few posts in this thread hit the nail on its head. General conclusions:

1. It's up to each user which OS they prefer. For example, having used every version of Windows since 95 as well as the last 2-3 releases of OSX (prior to Snow Leopard), I rate them in the following order: Windows 7, Windows Vista, OSX Leopard, Windows XP. People bag Vista a lot and it wasn't really a good OS for the general public but as a technical user, I appreciated many of its features.

2. Macs are made for less technical users and niche professionals (such as graphics artists, multimedia specialists, etc.). You demonstrate this very simply by highlighting the iLife Suite and the ability to install/uninstall applications easily. For me, those two are moot points and wouldn't contribute to my decision to buy a Mac at all. I wouldn't use any of the iLife software suite when there were freely available and better alternatives. I don't consider the ease of uninstalling/installing applications a major burden. Things such as lack of a real IDE (Visual Studio), ease of upgradeability and bloated price have all contributed to my decision to not invest in a Mac.

From those pictures. What a total bloody mess all those cables are? Pretty hard not to like the one on the left based on that

That picture is total bollox. You can have a PC system with as few wires as the Mac system no problem. The Mac offers you absolutely nothing apart from an easier to use operating system (and lets face it any fool can use windows anyway). You can easily make just as good looking a PC system, its just most people choose not to, they choose to save a few bucks instead. Mac's aren't more capable at anything over PC's these days, any hangups about graphical abilities are left over from the early 90's and its way past time to move on. The only people using Mac's these days are so far up their own arse they deserve to suffocate in their own sh!t.

Seeing a Dell on the right-side made me absolutely cringe.

Having extensively used Macs at school I must say they are far superior machines in comparison to the PCs I use at home and have used all my life.

While I'm no Mac crusader, I did use an iMac when I was a student worker at the marketing and communications department for IT at our college. For design-work (Adobe CS Suite--Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign) the Mac was a lot more efficient. The high pixel-density screens are a pleasure to work with and if you are a graphics professional, the price tag actually evens out for something you could build yourself (if you subtract standard Mac tax, of course). Like I said, though, these are very niche use cases.

Superior where?

Macs are closed OS's,they are good for the multimedia guys, but technically

Ubuntu Linux>Windows Vista>Mac OSX.

The only + point of a Mac is the sexy graphics, but hey!!! if you fiddle around with Windows or Ubuntu for half an hour you can easily get Mac like graphics.
and another thing about it is the priced exorbitantly.

I find it pretty hypocritic that the Mac fans that say "Mac OSX is much easier to the eye and look much cooler" insist that "Who cares for cosmetic make overs" when Windows enhanced eye candy and graphics with Windows Vista.
