PCPL General Discussion

Everything's working just fine then

Genuine question; I assume there's some logic in starting the next round whilst all the other matches from the other previous round/competition haven't been completed?

Does every PCPL run for 7-8 months?

Does every PCPL run for 7-8 months?

PCPL 3 25th June 2011 to October 17th 2011 : Less than 4 Months
PCPL 4 30th January 2013 to May 26th 2013 Less than 4 Months

This the slowest PCPL

It was short,
It was fun,
now even the players are not active!

One format at a time and making it continuous are some of the things we are going to do.

You do realize we used to have FC and OD matches together before right ?

Have to say guys like Dipak/Iri/Sartaj/Colin/CJ/Chewie etc were great !!!! .

No logic. I just noticed that nothing was happening in here, and I felt like posting some matches, so I put up the threads. :)

I assume thats its to let people post teams and the like to make things a little quicker

Right I'm just going to reply to a few posts that were made in one of the match threads; I feel that a reply here would be more appropriate since everyone is more likely to read it. I will also say that these are just my personal opinions; other staff people may disagree with what I'm saying and that's perfectly OK: we are not the Borg and we can disagree with each other. I've made this post while watching the second qualifying race for the Daytona 500, so I might have missed something.

I can understand if people are getting slightly annoyed about holdups with these things: but sometimes unexpected things can happen that can completely prevent forums access: and that sort of thing can hold up things like this. A few years ago I once had my home internet go out for a fortnight because BT broke the local fibre connection and took their time finding the fault: my limited understanding of simming is that if its between rounds then you could send the files over to someone else but if its during a game you're out of luck since you'd either have to find a way to post the results elsewhere which might be hard, or get someone else to start the game over which would probably end up annoying people if their team did significantly worse in the repeat game. Perhaps someone who's more knowledgable about the sim thing could give a better response

I do think that at least posting the last few First Class games is a good thing to do: I'd rather that we do something if there's a delay rather than us just continuing to wait. I see it as a bit of a damned either way situation: if we do nothing then people would still complain about things and when you take everything into consideration carrying on with something else is the best plan.

This I will protect admin/staff/sim members rubbish posted from members so one day maybe I can be one is getting old.

I actually kind of agree with the sentiment of this: if only because it assumes that we need people to defend us from anything negative against us. We're all responsible people that can handle people making valid criticisms of our collective decisions, provided that its done politely and isn't just spurious nonsense. Our decisions on who becomes staff isn't based on whether they defend us all the time but based on the general quality of a persons contributions to the forums - I'm pretty sure that I was occasionally critical of mod decisions before I came staff and hey, look at me now! If someone thinks that I've made a mistake in my duties then I'd personally like them to PM me and let me know: if they're correct then I'd change my actions and that'd be good for everyone! That's not to say that you should be critical of everything that we do (not suggesting that anyone is) since I think that we do more good than bad; although admittedly being a bit of an arse isn't against the forum rules and not something that ever should be because then we'd lose some of our best members.

The quietness and I will choose to ignore you option because I can is what I am getting at and it is not just me I see them doing it to others.

This isn't something that I've noticed nor did I before I became staff or an admin; admittedly I'm possibly bo. Not all staff members post in every forum; , and I was posting mostly during that pre-DBC release time when that forum was weirdly at its best. Sometimes a persons activity can fall when they become staff: that can be because of a few reasons but its not snobbery towards the regular folk on the forums. If you think that this has happened then it might be worth dropping that person a PM; they might have not noticed that they've done it.

Some people oh yes I am Mr serious this is like a career to me I will wear a suit to post my next message get a grip seriously it is a title that in real life outside the forum means absolute jack.

lol if you don't put on a top hat and tails every time you log on to the planetcricket.org forums

FWIW I wasn't having a crack at the staff. Just y'know. This forums on life support and it seems odd that we we have half unfinished matches all over the place and starting new ones seems odd. To me. There's like, 8 or 9 people posting regularly because it's all but DOA now which sucks, because I thought the mid-season and muffin malarkey breathed a little life into the thing.

Less is more. Or something.

Not sure what my point is now.

Best I get back to that thing I was doing.

AB the Smasher has already said thanks for your post... Lulz.
