Should really be in and amongst the Australian setup.

Much better bowler then Mitchell Johnson.

He took 9fer in the Final Class final against NSW which featured 9 players who have represented Australia or have been contracted. Infact, Domenic Thornley is the only player who won't represent Australia at International level in their career.

I know people will moan on about his lack of First-Class experience but his probably played a ton of grade cricket where the quality of it is about the same as English county cricket and we play about 20-25 grade matches a season.

His pace is lively, his action is robust and he rips through top orders. The main concern for Siddle is fitness. He's done his shoulder several times already. As it stands, that probably doesn't make him any more injury prone than Johnson or Tait, but it has eaten at several seasons where he would have had no trouble getting matches under his belt.

Yeah i'm impressed by this guy but like angryangry said fitness is the key for this bloke. Personally another 2 years of consistency will see this guy into the Australian set up (tests that is). He may get a go in the twenty20 internationals.

Easily better than Johnson but hes only had 1 season back. Don't want another Watson on our hands so give him at least another season to not only show what hes got but to prove his fitness can hold up. Plus the way our selectors go he'll be in the squad doing nothing while watching Johnson get whipped to all parts of the ground.

He should probably look to improve his one day game a little, but if the selectors take a shine to his first class ability, it won't matter much what his stats are.

All Siddle needs is Lillee saying hes a once in a life time bowler and he'll be sorted for life.... IIRC Johnson OD stats were poor and his FC average wasn't that flash when he was picked for the ODI side. Hilfy is another with not great OD stats but his FC more than covered that and once again got picked for the ODI side.

*Bump :D

I kinda take back the Mitchell Johnson comment although in time I think Siddle can match Johnson.

That scorecard I posted in the OP was really was the start of the future of Australian Cricket. Same game Hughes made his maiden first-class 100 and Siddle made his name.

Quality pick Ben, I saw him as a talent after his first Test match but to see him in domestic cricket and call him as a talent is quite an achievement.

Well done.

Peter Siddle look good and defo better than johnson. He got good talent but he been have history of injures. I hope he still good health and rate go bowler as long. I want see him in ashes.

Yeah I remember Ben ranting about how good Siddle is going to be. ;)

Good pick!!

Siddle impressed when he played in India. He may well be better than Mitch but you can't drop a player like Mitch who gets as many of his wickets out of luck as talent.

If Johnson keeps swinging it he will be very hard to top by any bowler. Any bloke especially a leftie that can bowl 150km/h and swing is indeed a once in a lifetime player. And this is coming from a guy that didn't rate Johnson.

As for Siddle he is getting better and better. Just needs to keep his speed up and he will really start jumping up the world ranking.
