I'm thinking we should have a forum vote on who we think is they player of the IPL. The best way to do this would be to do a 3, 2, 1, vote where you nominate who you think deserves the most points. Think about everything, not just batting and bowling. Fielding should also be key in your decision. You can only vote once and after the final is played I will count up the scores and the top 10 players will be included into a poll which we will again vote on.

Example:

3.D.Bradman
2.V.Richards
1.B.Lara

That's how you would vote in the 1st stage, giving three points for your MVP and two for your runner-up, and one for third.

My biasness is high. I haven't watched much.

1. Matthew Hayden 3 points
2. AB De Villiers 2 points
3. Adam Gilchrist 1 point

You can't do that with 3,2,1 :p
If Gilly produces another one of those knocks in the finals he could just pip it from Hayden.

Gilly for his leadership and instilling the confidence in his team - 3 points
Hayden obviously for being consistent - 2 points
Raina for his bowling and timely runs - 1 point (deserves 2 points though)

malinga started off well but maybe tailed a bit at the end, though that was due to poor support. hayden was fantastically consistent throughout and was the batting rock of chennai.

HOWEVER, as with last year, it seems twenty20 is a captains game and for me, the man who took a team of misfits in this format and has dragged them into the final is Kumble. also, he's tended to remove the important batsmen, unlike some of the seamers at the top of the wicket chart who've cleaned up against ludicrously carefree non-specialist batsmen at the death.

1. Kumble
2. Hayden
3. Gilchrist

Oh yeah I almost forgot about Kumble. He deserves no 1 spot alongside Gilly.
