Politics Discussion (India)

Modi is going to win this easily lol, I don't think people take Rahul Gandhi seriously, Plus he got all the hindu voters which is like 85% of the country.
First and foremost thing BJP (after winning in 2014) did was to spread negativity against Rahul Gandhi and Congress Party. That is where they lost their popularity among the new voters.

In that 80% Hindu voters, atleast 15-20% are in favour of Congress since they are traditional Congress vote base. They also have support of remaining minorities, they prefer Congress over BJP. Congress has about 40% of the population with them. A swing of 10 % would mean that anything can happen. :)

Elections in India are won through Caste appeasement rather than religion appeasement in India.

Yeah but If Congress can get a better leader then Rahul Gandhi then they can win this I think, To be honest since Modi came in power there have been more violence between ethnic groups and religions in India, but Rahul Gandhi is just...not good lol, I think he is like Bilawal Zardari from Pakistan but a lot better and speak better lol.
Hope to see peace between India and Pakistan after the elections

Prediction time.

I forsee a second term for Modi, if not by majority then at least by an alliance.

Modi was bound to get a second term (unfortunately). There is no solid opposition leader. And they successfully destroyed RG's image for good with the pappu trends :P

Anyways, if Congress doesn't cross triple figures, then they need to do major retrospection and get a new face for the party instead of RG

The shocking part so far has been someone like Pragya Thakur actually leading. I cannot believe people are actually voting for a terror accused candidate. If this is the trend that is going to follow with BJP in power, then I shudder to think what will happen to this country in the next 5

BJP done good promotion using our money in last 5 years to win again... And looks like it going to be BJP win again... Same thing Congress did before (adding name Neharu, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi in every big projects, building etc)...

So bottom line, in this term which every party comes in lead, they do the same promotion thing in next 5 years...

All these party have same agenda... Ab kamalo, panch saal baad fir see karch karenge (loot money now, after 5 years invest that money in advertise the party again)....

1.Pragya Singh Thakur - leading
2. Former PM HD Devegowda - trailing
3. Opposition party leader of Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge - trailing.
4. Anant Kumar Hegde who speaks rubbish such as changing Constitution - leading. Etc...

India, yeh tumne Kya Kar Diya? (T: India, What have you done? :facepalm)

Haha ... exactly they are all the same. Earn like crazy. Spend from that. Polarize the masses on religion and caste. Stay in power. Repeat.

For all the hooplah by Mr. Modi that his agenda is development, in the end this election was once again fought on crowd pleasing and polarizing factors, instead of development, health and education. And it will continue like this and it always has, so nothing new to see. The only problem is, this government will now up the ante to play their sick authoritarian moves because it worked !

Cant blame the public though (except in point 1).

There is no strong leader in the opposition and they have been severely divided. Rahul is not fit to lead. If Congress leadership has any sense, they will take some tough calls and not try to hide behind the fact that they "gained 30-40 seats" as compared to last time. I wish, Congress had lost even more badly so Rahul and co. do not get a chance to hide behind any excuses and are forced to take tough decisions

Regarding point 1, I can just hope that people in that constituency voted for Modi and not for Pragya.

Most of the seats won by BJP are due to face projected by them as their PM candidate. While it was obvious that Rahul was unofficial Congress PM candidate. Thanks to Right Wing efforts to plant "Pappu Image" in people.

Only the change in leadership will help Congress to make a comeback. BJP has now activated 'Operation Lotus' in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. Congress govt may fall in both the states in the coming days.

The 2014 election voting was done in a different sentiment altogether. People were furious with ever growing corruption under the congress regime and saw Modi as a ray of hope. It was like let's vote for a change, let's vote for someone who promises so much. Whereas this election as many of you have said, there was no competent opposition. This time round people have voted for Modi because there is no other alternative. It's like because we don't have a choice let's vote for Modi again despite there hasn't been any development or progress in reality. There is still hope he will deliver. This time too it can be full majority for BJP alone and if the so called development doesn't show in reality till 2024 then he should never be elected again. The sentiments this time were different. There wasn't a Modi leher at all.

Meanwhile CBN trying harder than Rahul to form govt with 1 MP seat leading..

I think Congress winning MP, Chhatisgarh, Karnataka, etc. in Lok Sabha elections a few months before national elections was the worst thing that happened to the opposition. They thought they had the Hindi belt with them because of this win, even though it was as mighty close win. RaGa gained a lot of confidence from those wins and you could see it in his public demeanor post that. But even the new and improved RaGa is still not competent enough to lead Congress and I hope they realize this sooner rather than later

Its simple, no one takes him seriously enough. Even hardcore Congress supporters have a hard time getting behind him. You need to be a certain kind of breed to survive politics and get people to listen to you when in power - he definitely doesnt belong to that breed
