Pro Evolution 2008!

Have you noticed that despite all of this PES is still the best football game available on the market?

Yeah I have, also:
Have you noticed how little PES has actually changed since PES3? Animations, graphics, commentary and tweaking of some aspects like shooting, passing, dribbling and crossing but the core of the game is still the same.
Although I have not liked any EA football game I have played since 98 (the latest EA football game I have played was a demo of UCL 06-07 on Xbox 360)
Have you noticed how much it has changed since 2003 compared to how much PES has changed since 2003? At least EA actually develop new game engines every few years and they may make a good one one time (unless Fifa 08 is that new good engine).

Have you noticed I was just avin a bubble, lol I just wanted to continue the 'have you noticed' my previous post didnt really have much meaning ;)

Have you noticed that too? I personally think it's the more 'fun' football game on the market as I had thought it would be befor release.

I wouldn't say it's the 'best' ;)

As far as the framerates issue goes, I had that - until I unticked 'skip frames' ( I think that's what it's called) and ticked 'use vsync' in the settings menu - that is! Now I've done that, I'm running on high in 1280 x 1024 with barely a whimper! Now all I need is kitserver/stadium server to be released, the stadium selection on PC really is pathetic!

Have you guys noticed a whole page or two in the team selections menu that hasn't got any teams in it? I'm hopeful that this means we can put what teams we like in there. If this is so, then it won't be long before we can have a proper Championship to be relegated to/promoted from, someone out there will mod it in!

I'm so glad they've finally ditched that tired old font for the 'TV overlays'! They look so much fresher now.

Edit: I was defeated 3-1 by Croatia today!!!! Let's hope that isn't an omen for tomorrow...
To all the guys complaining about being able to win too easily on Top player: Try some of the other levels, it's entirely possible they could've somehow got mixed up with each other. I find Regular puts up a good challenge. If that's what Konami have done it is inexcusable however and should be fixed with a patch. I'm more confident about regular patches appearing for this game, due to the option in the launcher to check if you have the latest version.

Glad to here you've finally recieved it and its working :D

I'm actually really liking the game, a real challenge - I've told Rob on Xfire he's to good and thats why he finds it so easy :p

If you havent got all the EPL kits yet, I suggest you get the small "superpatch" that has been released. You can get that here

I also recommend a little patch which changes the goal nets to a rather nice red and white one. Link

Hope you enjoy it :D

To be fair to Gameplay, they shelled out for next day delivery (£5), I can only imagine there must have been some uncharacteristic problems at their end.

PC users, check this out:

It looks like the first proper superpatch for PES 2008. It ain't small though, nearly 300mb!!

Here's a Championship update: http://downloads.gamingaccess.com/index.php?file_id=15227

Konami are lazy and PES is bug-ridden. That's undeniable. However, it's still a more playable game of football than FIFA. That's testament to the gap between the two games.

Well, personally I think the sound in PES 2008 is a massive step backwards (other than the ball sounds). I don't think I've heard a single chant! I found this sound patch:

If anyone downloads it, let me know if it's any good! I can't d/l it at the moment thanks to my damned monthly limit. I'm seriously thinking of switching to Option Three BT!

Ok, Konami have got to do something about these goalkeepers! Their handling is terrible, far too often they palm an innocuous shot away instead of holding onto it and it causes far too many goals.

Also I hate the new penalty system! I mean when the CPU is taking a penalty against you, you can hardly see the taker!
We need a system where the view is from behind the taker and doesn't change! That way you can judge which way to go. On top of that, we need to be able to move the keeper on the damn line!

Come on, Konami! Sort it out!

Pes 08 patch now available to download for the PS3 version apparently, not sure what it does, but at least they're patching it :D

Madman, PES 08 is far superior to the past games in the series, apart from the odd bug or two, the passing has better flow, the shooting is vastly improved, the realism improved, the game pace is more realistic, long passing is more successful and therefore realistic. There may be a few bugs (most of which have been ironed out by the patch i hope) but it is a fantastic game of football, and the most realistic game of football you are going to find unless you go out and have a kick about down the local park.

Stops lag online aswell apparently, Konami get a massive thumbs up from me. PES 6 needed patching i felt, but got nothing on 360, seems they've bucked their ideas up. Nice work Konami, footballing brilliance is achieved :D
