Pro Evolution 2008!

Well, I'm afraid it wont work on an Intel card :( Its a GeForce or ATI Radeon only I'm afraid.

FIFA 08 on the PC is quite frankly abysmal, dont even go near the box.

I'm not a fan of the Be a Pro myself, I got bored of it very quickly and found it was easy to simply dribble past everyone and slip it into the net.

The new PES I simply love. The animations are slick, and the weight of the ball means it doesnt ping around as much. There has been some negativity about it, but tbh its like marmite. You either love it or you hate it.

Crap, I should have got the HP laptop with the same price, it has GeForce, however it had less hard drive storage..

Guys will PES08 work on Intel GFX card?
Windows Vista?
also is it better then FIFA08, PC version?
does it outplay "Be a pro"?

Most PC games will either not work at all or run like a crippled snail stuck in treacle with one of Intel's onboard efforts!

Graphics cards have always confused me. They are like cars, there is not one that is definitively, undoubtebly the best.

I have a ATI Radeon X1300. It is unable to play a large number of games at their highest settings, but it can play Cricket 07 at 1680x1050 with 2x Anti Aliasing.

Well, personally I think the sound in PES 2008 is a massive step backwards (other than the ball sounds). I don't think I've heard a single chant! I found this sound patch:

http://downloads.gamingaccess.com/index.php?file_id=14451

If anyone downloads it, let me know if it's any good! I can't d/l it at the moment thanks to my damned monthly limit. I'm seriously thinking of switching to Option Three BT!

I downloaded it and it's very good for everything other than the Premiership. Those chants are rubbish, it's not worth wasting 375mb if you want it just for the Premiership.

Edit: About the commentary, I reckon that FIFA just let them get on with it and say what they want, whereas Konami give them set lines! I mean, what sort of commentator yells 'FREEE KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK' and 'POSSIBILITIEEEEEEEEES!' What do you guys think? I think the commentary in this one is worse than PES 6.

New patch released :

http://dl.konami-europe.net/PES2008Patch1_20.zip

The official release notes :

New PC-Patch 1.20 for PES 2008 now available

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has released a new patch for the PC-DVD version of its PES 2008 title.

The free update corrects issues related to network connections, and adresses the slowdown that affected online play. The match-making system has also been enhanced, while some incompatibilities with graphic cards and Vista have been resolved.

Konami is committed to continually enhancing users’ gameplay experiences, and will continue to look into ways of improving PES 2008.

Recent Updates:

1) Searching for opponents in “Quickmatch” tries first to pair you with players having a good connection

2) Occasionally appearing slow downs during matches have been fixed to improve game play quality

3) Some changes to the network structure have been introduced in order to solve issues for users which are not able to connect to opponents

4) Issues with Windows Vista causing PES 2008 not to recognize the full amount of the video card's VRAM have been fixed.

5) Various other minor issues have been corrected

I have tried it - and the online mode is much improved. But if you play someone on 'low' settings, theres a problem. Have to see what happens with that...

*twiddles thumbs while the 360 version of this patch is released!!*

The servers are an absolute disgrace. I just cant get my head round why the hell on some occasions it only brings up say 4 games, but then when you search straight after you get 9 or 10! Why not just have the servers laid out properly, show them all in one big list, say like the CS servers or something! Because this layout is doing my nut in and the amount of times you get results with no connection is driving me insane.

Does anyone know if the 'minor issues' include the butterfingered keepers being fixed? This is the gameplay's one glaring flaw and badly needs to be addressed! Also, does this one include the fixes from the first one?

I got the new patch yesterday and so far, I reckon the goalkeepers are considerably improved and the PC is better at playing 'you can't have the ball'!

I agree with you when you say that some teams, that could never do it in real life, play excellent possession football. It would be good if, for the next patch, they could implement some different playing styles (some teams using long ball more than others for example), although realistically speaking, that is more likely to be seen in a new game rather than a patch. Glad to see that you're now getting some enjoyment out of the game, Madman! There are few things more annoying than spending good money on a game and not having any fun out of it! Especially if you bought it on PC from GAME, in which case you're stuck with it. This is already the second patch and I think it shows that Konami are going down the road of making regular patches for what is, after all, their flagship game. All I need now is Stadium server and someone to make a decent Premiership sound patch!

There is a Championship patch! :) I will download it when I can be bothered.
Should be fun playing as Coventry :) Playing as a team I support for a change instead of a team chosen at random.

Really? What site? Link?

Lol I'll have to buy this for PC so I can play as the mighty Eagels!
