Konami have done a complete u-turn after announcing that they WON'T be porting over the hugely successful Pro Evo 2 to the PC. The decision came hot on the heels of the news that Pro Evo 3 will be due for shelf life on Friday 7th November (UK).

Konami President Haruo Yamamoto told a press room that development costs for its new project, working title "Pro Evolution Soccer 3: Path To Glory", were mounting after it was announced that sales for the Japanese developers were down 6.8% in the previous tax year and also that major changes were being made to the new games infrastructure.

Konami denied also any possibility of a game being released on X-box, quashing rife rumours that an online world cup with 32 sumultaneous players was imminent in the near future. A representative told X-box Gamer, "Konami have at no stage confirmed or announced plans to develop any sort of game for the x-box, let alone an on-line title and are striving to ensure the game is a success on one console only - Playstation 2".

With Electronic Arts also saying that FIFA 2004 will not be featuring online play, there is now a gaping hole appearing in the football games sector, with no apparent third party developers keen on developing either, It could yet be a long time before we see a full on "live" world cup at our fingertips. There is hope that Microsoft may produce its very own football game purely to bridge the gap, but at the moment these are merely pipe dreams.
