Now, now...don't go there.
So here goes:
A man (let's call him Jane Doe) wants to enter a building. A gatekeeper is guarding that building's door. He only lets you through if you answer his code correctly. So Jane hides behind a nearby tree and starts observing the visitors.
First visitor: Guard says 12, visitor says 6. He lets him in.
Second visitor: Guard says 6, visitor says 3. he lets him in.
By now, Jane realizes that all he has to do is divide the number by half. Confident, he approaches the guard.
The guard says 10. Jane says 5. The guard kicks him out never to be allowed to enter the premises again.
Where did Jane go wrong?
