The Big Day

Well I may have been out but that meant in came Shane Watson! I told him to just smash everything as I walked past him on my way back to the pavilion. Well he didn't half do that! He smashed an almighty 66 runs in just 49 balls hitting 3 fours and a monster, 5 sixes. Bichel stuck around hitting 15 from 37 deliveries and Noffke hit a few crisp reverse sweeps hitting 21. Stu left to go down to the pitch as 11th man and before he left he said "Right, Another day another fifty."

He came out and made 0* off 4 balls before Shane got out down the other end. So we had amassed 251 all out off 43 overs which seemed a pretty good score on this track. Was looking forward to the fielding side of the game...

could have scored a few more in that situation but a decent-ish score

Shame you couldn't bat your out your entire innings. 251 is very competetive though.

We went into lunch with the lads and Jimmy said we'd batted well on what was definatley a bowler's pitch. I was chatting to Trev and Watto about what the pitch was like. They both said that it was dusty, with movement and uneven bounce being on offer. I also spoke to Andy Bichel about what I could expect from my first game. He was telling me about just keeping it simple and not trying to hard because that's when you bowl wides and no-balls. Soon enough though, we had to go back out and I'd realised I'd not eaten anything in the 20 minutes for the lunch break, so I shoved a sausage roll down my gob and that would be that.

With the score on 24/0 off 9 overs, I was thrown the ball by Jimmy. Both batsman, Arnberger and Klinger, looked settled and seemed in the mood. To say I was nervous was a massive understatment. I was beginning to think about what Bichel said in lunch, just to keep it simple, nothing fancy until you've settled in. I was about to run up for my first ball in Australian domestic cricket...

1st Over said:
0.1 - Bowled wide of off stump, cut straight at point (no run)
0.2 - Bowled right in the block-hole and defended (no run)
0.3 - Wide of off stump, driven into the covers (no run)
0.4 - Yorker attempted, a bit too full, on drive (no run)
0.5 - Driven to the covers once again (no run)
1.0 - Shorter ball outside off stump, late cut (4 runs)

Not a bad first over, I was just a little annoyed that I gave away the boundary on the final ball.

2nd over said:
1.1 - Shorter ball that was attempted to be pulled, batsman hit in the chest (no run)
1.2 - Reverse swinger, played a bit early but batsman safe (no run)
1.3 - Outside off stump and driven through the covers (1 run)
1.4 - A loss of concentration on this ball, attempted yorker, turned into a full toss and was given the proper treatment (6 runs)
1.5 - No ball, left alone (1 run)
1.5 - Good comeback from the last two balls, slower ball defended (no run)
2.0 - Shorter ball which was attempted to be cut away, narrowly missing the inside edge (no run)

A few concentration lapses in that over, I'll have to bowl better next one.

3rd Over said:
2.1 - Short of a length and cut to point (no run)
2.2 - Wide ball, lucky for the keeper to get that one, came out of my hand wrong (1 run)
2.2 - Slower ball, driven through the covers (1 run)
2.3 - Shorter than usual, back foot defense (no run)
2.4 - Wide of off stump, driven to the covers (no run)
2.5 - Carbon copy of last ball, driven to the covers (no run)
3.0 - Shorter ball, back foot drive into the covers again (no run)

After 15 overs, Victoria are 48/0. Both batsman are looking set to attack and the next few overs could be the key into who gets the upper hand.

Nice realistic story and culli has presented it nicely too. Victoria are playing nicely hope culli gets wickets now.

batsmen are starting to get a bit too settled so you need a wicket to shake it up but not bad start from your bowling culli

culli... bit expensive! But u can bounce back.. All u need is, two quick wickets which will apply pressure on opponent! com'on Culli.. u can do it! :)

Nice presentation there mate!

Due to recent events involving culli's computer having to be re-booted and therefor loosing everything, we have not been able to update.

We are going to have to start the 2nd innings so therefore those 15 overs have been lost.

We shall maybe update tonight but most probably over the next few days :)
