Rahul Dravid - forgotten hero.

I've recently opened my eyes now, and have started to see Dravid actually as a good and valuable player. I think all we need to do is use him right. He's not the out and out smack type, that is fine. We just need to find him the best places to bat.

But then again, most of the eye opener was because Dhoni stepped up to the worse platform for me. His batting, AND his captaincy. Ugh!

This is what I have been saying. Use Dravid in the best places to bat. He can be used when the conditions are really challenging and a guy like him is required.

I also have a feeling that the 'mysterious' cricketer who said to Ratnakar Shetty that Team India didnt care about the CT exit was DRAVID. Maybe thats why he has been dropped. Although I feel it wasnt a bad decision to include others in his place, this could be a reason and if true, its utter crime from the selectors to do it (to safeguard their IPL interests)

He is an absolute wonder. Coupled with that, he has no Ricky Ponting like starry tantrums nor a McGrath like verbally aggressive attitude. He just plays cricket with an intention to focus and do well for his team.

Rahul has served the country very well. And we only have ourselves to blame for treating him shabbily.

Is this a shot at Aussie cricket?

McGrath isnt the only one with aggressive attitude. Perhaps you should look closer to home and take someone like Sreesanth for verbal abuse, or Yuvraj for starry tantrums when he isnt even close to being a star in terms of his cricketing ability.

Quite true. Dont hold McGrath for that one moment with Sarwan. Dravid comes from the conventional school and much like Sachin, he lets his game do all the talking.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesnt McGrath have a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong history of verbal abuse? Sreesanth doesn't. He's been around for just 5-6yrs now.

As for Yuvi Singh, count and temme the no. of batsmen who have hit 6 6s in an over!

And nope, not a shot at the Aussies. They're cool and I was just stating facts.

In 5-6 years Sreesanth has a bigger record on verbal abuse and just plain stupid abuse then McGrath in his 14 year career.

And that makes him a good player how? Check his stats in tests and tell me how good is he outside the subcontinent.

Anyways, Sobers a actual legend did it way before and Gibbs did it in the last World Cup.

Facts are a bit off...

Buddy, everything that your media tells you isn't true. Sreesanth is a bit of a character, agreed. But why he is a serial abuser when he gives he gives his 200% to the nation's cause and why are McGrath and Mitchell Johnson not when they abuse just as much/a bit more than Sreesanth and get away.

Did I skip an Andre Nel above? Add him to the list as well.

He's really improving a lot in that form of the game. Soon he'll rightly be, as a user calls him here, the UNDISPUTED KING OF CRICKET :)

Sobers is a legend. No one's even denying it. Ravi Shastri, another legend, has done it as well.

And how much do you think McGrath gave for his nation, and how much do you think Johnson does for his country. McGrath has been fined for his outbursts in the past just like any cricketer who has gone over the line.

And Sreesanths 200% has nothing to do with him going over the line in almost every match he plays in. Including domestic cricket.

A legend once said "if your a fast bowler you need not talk to the batsman, let the ball do the talking for you".
And McGrath did more talking with the ball then his mouth on a cricket pitch.

He's really improving a lot in that form of the game.

He has to improve away from the subcontinent to even start being called a good test batsman. Other then one half century and a average of 30+ in NZ his record away from home is awful.

And when this happens cricket will be no more. There are kids coming up in Indian domestic cricket that are 100 times better then Yuvraj.

Now this is what I call a healthy debate. Although grossly off-topic and we seem to have forgotten that the thread is about Rahul Dravid and not about Yuvraj Singh, its turning out to be a good discussion here.
