Random Thoughts

If your just applying for a part-time job at a local coffee place or shop, all you need to do is show competence. Especially if it's a lower end job, as you don't want to seem over-employed for the job.

I'm actually so bored of my presentation I'm writing at the moment, I actually decided to have a good look around PC for the first time in a month or so. What happened to it? :facepalm

Well, the absence of idiotic comments from yourself has meant theres been less debate:D. WE NEED YOU BACK!:p

I am only at Season 2 atm, But its been an amazing one so far. The acting, the storyline, everything is just perfect.

Wait till you reach season 4. It is epic.
Someone spoilt the ending for me though sadly.
But even then Despite it being spoilt, I was still shocked! :O

I'm writing a cv at the moment, and I'm slightly unsure of what goes in one. I've only had to write one to apply for a scholarship before, but never for a job, and I know that different stuff go in different types of cvs.

So far I've just got my academic record over the past few years, and any significant awards or achievements that I've had (be it academic, cultural, sporting or community-related). I'm not too sure what else I'm supposed to put in. Do I write a personal statement? And if so what sort of things do I put in it?

I understand that cvs are different all around the world so what some people recommend may not be what is preferred in NZ but I would like to see what people recommend.

(I just realised this should probably go in the employment thread... oh well)

Lol, today at school I was thinking I should probably write one as well. :spy

I don't really need/want a job, but I really need some work experience as I have nothing whatsoever so far.

Pretty much I can get 10 bucks working very casually for my dad around the house, or like 11/12 bucks after tax doing proper work.

I'm still not sure what I should do, I'd prefer to just do casual work for my dad, like work whenever I want etc and don't need to worry about cvs, applications, interviews, but the main advantage of working at a proper place is it gives you something to build on for a better job in the next few years.

Most of my friends who are looking for jobs ATM pretty much just wrote a page or two about themselves, under headings like personal info, work experience, interests, achievements, skills, referrals etc.

Also last year did you get one of those school referral things?
The actual word has completely gone from my head ATM, but pretty much a recommendation from your school, and if you did would you recommend getting one?

Everyone gets a personal reference letter from their housemaster (King's has 11 houses, each with a housemaster) that's about a page long. It's a really good thing to have when apply for jobs and things like that because it's from someone who has known you for all your 5 years at your high school. For you I'm not sure who would be writing it, but they are always helpful to have.

Having actual work experience in a proper job is always beneficial in the future I think. It looks good.

At my school you pretty much have to apply to get the dean of our year to write one, at first I wasn't going to get one, but now that I think about it I may go and pick up the form tomorrow.

CG123 added 1 Minutes and 45 Seconds later...

The year 13 dean has little idea who I am, so I'd be pretty much giving him what I've been involved in etc, he'd look at my punctuality, detentions etc, and email all my teachers to get stuff about me, then just combine it all together.

Yea you may as well, there's no harm in getting it.

Even if the person doesn't know you, it'll still be good to have. Some (well most) of my friends were prefects and they got the headmaster to write a referral for them as well, but I wasn't and he didn't really know me. He still adds a little sentence on the bottom though.

Because that kind of thing is about as funny and as childish as pulling worms in half. If that is the kind of thing that these forums want to entertain then I truly have no time what-so-ever for it.

Good luck to you if you think it is funny and worth posting here.

It is bad enough that that kind of drivel is posted anywhere but to want to advertise it here is just....

Did you actually read the so-called banter?

I am not talking about it being morally wrong; that doesn't bother me at all.

It is just so not interesting, so dumb, so absolutely mind-boggingly mind-boringly tediously, 12 year old "I have got three pubic hairs", "ooh I saw my neighbours wife bend over in the back garden", utter, utter shite!

Well I thought it was funny and worth posting.
