Random Thoughts

I wish I'd stop when I'm ahead. Whacked ?50 down on an Arsenal at 15/8.

just took 8 quid from the quiz machine in the pub after footy too.

First 11-a-side match for about 18 months, 4-0 win and a clean sheet for me, that'll do.

Given prime-time TV in the UK costs ?1-2m per minute to advertise, I bet it's several times that in the US.

Also, not at all unusual for candidates to spend that kind of money on campaigns, it's why you need big money to do anything in politics in the US.

No way it costs ?1 million to advertise prime time in the UK. ?60,000 non prime time average.

A superbowl commercial costs $2 million - ?1.5 million. Normal prime time slots are $700,000, about ?470,000.

Shits not looking groovy on my bets. Arsenal losing 2-1 after leading early on. Auxerre and Roma doing their bit though.

At least you put a bet on. I text a Spurs mate last night before the game and said "you'll win 3-1". Gutted.

That was based on my recollection of an article stating during X-Factor final last year they were making ?3-4 Million per break. Though looking at it after the fact, I can only see articles stating around ?500k per minute.

Though it's still easy to see how those costs can build up.

That's very true. It just amazed me to see someone spending $800 million on a political campaign. Especially considering the economy and un-employment globally. Shows how much "image" means compared with actual policy. Sadly, its become the same here in Britain.

Ball was hit at me rather hard last night, didn't take it cleanly and crack.

Need to re-crack it, straighten it out so it repairs properly, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Stop typing and get back to bed :p Gws mate :)

Three days and we've been supplied smelly water in house. The water department isn't doing anything about it even after persistent complaints from us, and I think we'll be living on mineral water and Potassium Permanganate for a few more days.:facepalm

so thats for showering as-well?

we've been using buckets for now. We've bought water from the market plus have compelled the Water department to provide us atleast of 100 l of water.

Varun added 8 Minutes and 39 Seconds later...

The condition here, in India, is bad. And tell you, we live in a well-develop area. Even then....

Thirty-Six Days of Turmoil: George W. Bush and the 2000 Election | Student Pulse

Some figures in there.

Not quite the same over here, cost wise is completely different. Election campaign spending by political parties | UK Political Info

It is funded by the members of the party too. It is quite well regulated.*

*Yes, I'm ignoring cash for honours :p
