Random Thoughts

Overnight my sore throat went away and now I have a partially blocked, partially very runny nose.

I seem to be getting all the symptons of the flu but in the time period of a day... maybe tonight I'll be better :D

Got my flu injection today at 4ish. After dinner I had a queasy stomach. Then around 8 I started coughing heaps and now I've got a sore throat. Hopefully it's not related to the flu injection...

Why do you need a flu injection? I always thought it was for old people. I think I've only ever had a flu injection once and that was when I was about 7.

My parents insist that we get it each yet. Supposed to prevent you getting the flu over the winter.

My nose seems to be getting better now :/

Last year I got like four colds, this year I've already had one, and we're still not even into winter properly.

I never really get properly sick though like spewing up etc, it's always just a runny/blocked nose and a sort throat for a week or two.

Heck, I don't even go to the doctor any more when I do get sick. Just stay home for day, take some Panadol and sleep.

The flu injection does contain flu viruses which have been deactivated so there's always a small chance you'll feel the symptoms of a flu after you get your shot.

I think the phrase you're all looking for is "man up". I had two days off school when I was a kid and haven't had a day off work in 5 years.

I have this weird thing where I'm never properly sick, but I have a runny nose every morning for a few hours. Sometimes it lasts through the day, but not often. I think it's partly a mind thing cos if I don't think about my nose then it's not runny.

I've never taken a day off from uni because I was sick, and I hardly ever did at school. Being Asian, my mum finds it more important that I learn rather than recover at home...

Only time I can remember staying off school sick was when I was sent home by the school nurse. Looking back, that could have been swine flu.

you got into U Penn? daaaaaayyyyumm dude. nice

but yea, MSU is probably the best because you'll be paying instate tuition and the guaranteed med school admission.

Yeah, no way am I going to Penn though. 60k/year for an undergraduate degree, no frigging way. I applied for kicks and giggles basically, lucky that I got in :p.

Hardest to turn down was Michigan tbh. Public ivy, love the campus, Ann Arbor is wonderful... but considering that I know I want to be a doctor it simply isn't the one for me when I have a med school guarantee at state. Plus it will be tougher to get a high GPA and such at UMich vs Michigan State (I plan to apply out to a better med school, but it is good to have one in the pocket anyways). I have heard so many horror stories of pre-med students graduating with a bio degree, not getting into med school, being 100k in debt and only landing a job as a Park Ranger. Or worse, a researcher... trust me it is horrid stuff to work in those labs.

Michigan State is nice too. The only thing I am losing vs Mich is the brand name but everything else works in my favor... still hard to let Mich go though :(
I have got to work on my UMich hate, can't have a spartan having soft spots for those Wolverines :p

And congrats CM. Let me warn you life at a good Uni is busy as hell and you should get used to being mediocre or below in atleast half your courses.

I am 99% heading to Michigan State's combined med.

Come to Upenn, I'm in Drexel which is like a street away literally. There's a huge Indian crowd at Drexel and we play cricket a lot.

Ah I see your other post.

I was going to apply to Drexel's combined med but I heard that there is literally no social scene there at all :p. My friend's friend basically gave up a medical seat because he thought Drexel was that boring!

I have no hw these holidays :D

Instead I have to study for three tests and compete in this thing for a club I'm part of

FFS. What a bitch question. I find the solution online, and they solved it by referring to a Table which I don't have to get a variable G that I didn't have and was hence stuck in solving it.

Gah. Wasted so much time on that.
