Got my heat for the Open Case Competition tomorrow morning. It's part of a university club I'm a member of (Management Consulting Club), and I'm quite nervous about it.
We are in teams of four and we get three hours to analyse a company case and make a ten minute presentation to judges about what we feel this company should do in the future. We then get questioned for ten minutes about our strategy and presentation in general.
I'm the finance person for my team, so I have to go over how our proposed strategy affects the company financially - by how much does it improve the bottom line, and similar stuff. I'm not a very good public speaker so doing stuff like this scares me
Especially the Q&A, because you have to think on your feet a lot. The other three people in my group are debaters or have done it before so they're good at that sort of stuff :/ On top of that there is a lot of pressure on me because I have to get the numbers correct or else everyone else makes mistakes, and I get questioned a lot
And ten minutes is a hell of a long time answering questions under pressure.
Should be interesting to see how I go. Got butterflies in my stomach already
