Govt gives $36m for America's Cup - Sport - NZ Herald News

What a fried chickenen joke, the New Zealand government has gotta be one of the most dumbfried chicken ones in the world.

We're heavily in debt, and we just had a terrible last 12 months or so in terms of tradities, and they're forking out 36 million to one of the biggest jokes that they call a sport going around.

Agreed. Add to that the $2mil they're forking out for that plastic waka. Honestly, they are so clueless. To pay for that, we're going to need to borrow more money which is only going to drag us deeper into the mire.

Although I heard on the news when they were covering this story, that they are bound by some contract signed between the Labour party and Team NZ. Probably guarantee's them funding from the government for X number of years.

Apart from Dhoni, it may well be. :yes

It's a list of the most influential people in the world. Someone who sells 100 million copies of their game is most likely quite influential in the world.

Muammar Gaddafi's son, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, is on the list. I've seen him on the news ranting on about how he's going to crush the rebellion but I wouldn't call him influential.

He has the power to murder swathes of people with little to no retribution, I'd call that pretty influential.

When you imagine what the people of North Korea would do for their leader (or are made to do...) it's not hard to imagine he'd be on the list. His personality will shape the country for decades to come.

My team won our heat so we're through to the semifinals :D Competed against 4 other teams, and a number of them were apparently pretty strong so I'm really happy :D We are against 7 other teams, with 4 going through to the final.

Apparently our slides were excellent and our speaking was really good. We also made very insightful points which was pleasing to hear :D Apparently it was obvious that we all had experience public speaking before, but I've done next to none so I was very happy with that comment :D

I'm in a happy mood now :D

We got a not-for-profit case in the semifinal which is pretty annoying, because it's so different to what we've done before. And there are next to no 'finances' as such because they're not looking to make a profit, so my role changes. I was just in charge of numbers, like the number of members of the organisation, and the amount of fundraising. Which in some ways is actually better because I don't need to do many calculations.

We won our semifinal though :D So now we're through to the final tomorrow. It's really annoying because there are hardly any buses being Easter Sunday, so I have to drive everyone into uni. Which is technically illegal. Oh well.
