Florida is one of the best states for gun rights. I don't know the laws specifically but I know they are looser than Texas.

You guys also have the castle doctrine, so if someone breaks in you can fire away without any worry of criminal charges or civil damages against you.

Your home is your castle, at least in Florida and Texas and you can defend it with deadly force.

Same goes with car.

Florida and Texas are also unique in that we do not have a "duty to retreat" statute. So if you are in a situation with a bad guy, you can stand your ground and defend yourself without worrying about legal backlash.

Heard of this, History teacher last year was in somewhat a similar situation, a student tried to break into his house, didn't shoot him though.

Get a .22 rifle to start with Epic. You can get one for about $120 from Wal Mart.

Ammo is cheap like 500 rounds for 20 bucks. You'll start researching and learning as you go along. Sport shooting is a great hobby.
