Had the train between Trivandrum and Hyderabad been a bit late by minimal gap of 3 seconds, I and one of my co railfan would have been dead. yes D E A D.

This was right beside us, and we were concentrating on the train that was coming, moreover, least concentrated on the track and happenings beside us.

Two days ago, my friend slipped over on grass while he was running, though the grass wasn't wet, in fact it was dry, not moist. Any explanations for that?

Saw one of those when I was 12 and playing club cricket. I noticed it when we were playing. It was running quickly in the grass straight in front of us. Obviously I shouted immediately and then everyone ran to our coach. However we still played cricket after few minutes, changing our playing area few meters from it. Never thought about what would have happened If I had not seen and informed my mates about it though.

Totally missed this post on my 1st reading, wow, dude, count yourself lucky.

Don't really have snake stories of my own, sure I've come across the odd snake, but nothing that's made me think "oh man, had I not payed attention to my surroundings..."

I'm scared (massive understatement) of lizards, so I'd probably faint if I saw a snake.

Obviously it's a snake, but why is everyone shitting their pants over it? Is it particularly fierce?

Omg me too! I hate it in India where those house lizards are absolutely everywhere. Especially the big disgusting looking ones that stare at me while I take a crap/shower :noway

Reptiles are naturally more threatening/scary (at least in the mind).

Same in Pakistan when I go on holiday, but i don't mind them as long as you know where they are at all times and i am at least 5-10 metres away from them, I am more relaxed.

That's the thing with snakes though, the common man isn't really going to figure out it's capabilities on first sight.

I bet you'd all ---- your pants if you saw this. Happened to a buddy fishing up in Dallas. That's why we keep a 12 gauge in the boat. All snakes shot dead on sight
