@Callum - do we even have a golf thread? I've got to get you onto WGT; you'll love it!

Nah, we don't. I was going to create one a while ago, but for some reason I didn't. I played golf manager live a few months ago, but tbh it just didn't really do it for me. I assume WGT is similar to that?

For anyone who follows golf, how about Lydia Ko! She's a 15 year old Asian New Zealander who was the youngster ever winner of a professional golf tournament (now broken), and she's the youngest ever winner on the LPGA in another event. She won the NZ open last week, and today shot the course record at the Aussie open to lead that after the first round.

Yeah, mental! Read about that this morning. His career is over now. Even if it's an accident, that'll be manslaughter I presume.

The headline now reads "Pistorius charged with murder", so it's definitely Game(s) over for him. It just has everything wrong with the world written all over it though:

"In an interview with the Mail before London 2012 it was revealed he slept with a pistol next to his bed and kept a machine gun by a window."

That article says "The track star's home is a large farm northeast of Johannesburg in the Pretoria region, which is heavily guarded", so I'm not sure why he would've been so paranoid anyway. I know they have one of the highest rates of shootings in the world, but it just seems strange. Did he need to fire four shots as well...

The word plush springs to mind :p With that kind of money, and probably contacts, you're ideally suited to a career into journalism. Contacts and not talent seems to be the main route.

Most definitely. All about the contacts and the experience. Her dad already got me work experience in the summer at Market News International. Don't like taking too much though.

Horrible news about Pistorius.

Don't be shy about taking it. You don't get any more points for doing things the hard way. No one else will be afraid to take the same job through different contacts, so use what you can.

Thing is he's in banking and I'm not that keen on going into financial journalism. Of course if it's all I'm left with then I'll take it. Going to try and pursue sports journalism for as long as possible though.

Getting into journalism is never that simple though. Any route in and you can then look at moving desks further down the line. Reporting is reporting is reporting. These days it may as well be a template that just gets filled in :p

Very true. Tried to get some work experience at The Cricketer Magazine and they are booked up until September 2014! Insane. There will become a point, most likely this September, where I throw out any ideas of being picky, haha.

I'm like a lightingrod to troubles. We'd a bit of intimate talk a day before yesterday on text (we lost it, although she thinks it was I, both of us were equally guilty), she felt a bit awkward about it the next day and told her mom (not about the intimate talk obviously) about me. Indian parents take these things a little too seriously, but surprisingly they didn't create a ruckus at once. But told her, 'anyone but not him'. Still hold me responsible for her suicide attempt. I don't hate her for telling her mom, because she does share quite a bond with her. I'll convince them, nevertheless. They let her go apparently, but when we were texting today at about 2:30 am she stops replying suddenly. An hour and no reply. I've even called. So, probably her parents came, took her phone and I get a visit or call tomorrow. Yay! Parents meet! I really don't feel scared, although I should be. Indian parents tend to be extremist towards this stuff. I don't get this, is this the life testing me bullshit? Bleh.

Seriously dude. Be cool. No need to force anything. Take things slow. Try not speaking to her occasionally and don't jump when she expects you to.

Read the game. I'd imagine it's not a book that's quite as well known around India, and as such most of it will be far more relevant :p
