i have been having a debate with a friend on Facebook.

As I mentioned in my AMA (you're welcome), I tend toward the libertarian end of the political spectrum, but the gun lobby is nuts.

The 2nd amendment is a pro-state law, not a pro-individual one. it doesn't give the right to bear arms for freedom, for hunting, or even (as so many insist) to defend oneself from the tyranny of the state, but very specifically to form a militia to defend the state. this "militia" is now the national guard, and so the 2nd amendment is obsolete since 1933. interpreting a right to have arms to defend the state as a libertarian law allowing you to bear arms to defend yourself against the state is obscene.

what i am first and foremost is a utilitarian, and the right to bear arms is a terrible law from a utilitarian perspective.

it's glib to make light of these things but the onion article that they run when these things happen (too often) "no way to prevent this, says only nation where this regularly happens" is really great.

As an individual who is getting to know the American culture, I can speak only my opinions. More gun attacks have caused people loosing life then terrorist attacks. Gun law was created for one's safety but now its just pure business. The fact that people are on no fly list and are yet allowed to buy guns baffles me. Even if people are allowed to buy guns they should not be allowed to buy automatic weapons. Those grade weapons are for military and to some extent police. There needs a change in the law and there needs to be stricter background check processes. If US says they dont have enough folks to go through strict bg checks, they might as well abolish the gun law.

Above is the perfect smoothie as made by me

• Banana
• Frozen blackberry, raspberry, red currents, black current, strawberry
• Fresh strawberries
• Greek yoghurt

Add semi skimmed milk, pour into blender and voila, the above ‘elixir of life’ is end result

Amazingly it tastes even better than it looks

Why expend all the effort typing out all those ingredients when all you have to say is that you spewed out last nights tea into a glass and took a picture?
