RIP World Cup Super League 2020-23 (World Cup Qualifier Jun 16 - Jul 9)

Sri Lanka on the back foot here. A Scottish win will poise the Super Six interestingly. If Scotland go past the Lankans, the Super Six will become an all-out war zone with teams trying to win every little moment. Also, menas Zim and Scot will be on 4 points, but the remaining teams might just fancy their chances.

Imagine someone told you before this tournament that neither SL nor WI will top their group

Scotland need to put extra effort in there batting to beat Sri Lanka... Lankan bowlers are more than good compared to West Indies and Ireland...

I love how Kusal Mendis is either in ‘feast or famine’ mode at all times. Such a wasted talent.

Truth be told, I was skeptical of the WI from the very beginning. Expected them to lose a game in the group stage. Lanka, well today's performance is an aberration. I did think they'd slip up against the Irish, but expected them to be table toppers

IRE v UAE
Just saw, Stirling anything well on 146. High time Ireland look past him. He hasn't been the best of form and that has hampered then big time here.

Yeah I’m not sure if West Indies were good on paper before the tournament, the only thing they had going for them was their reputation.

I expected Ireland to be up there with Zimbabwe and the Lankans, they were the biggest surprise for me.

Boo this boring day of cricket doesn't meet my unreasonably high expectations

83 needed from 127 and all out cause the guy smashing it runs out his two remaining partners. Feel like Scotland have got carried away there by restricting Sri Lanka to gettable total.

So this will be the Super Six lineup with the respective points carried forth (unless they use the weird 2003 formula)

Sri Lanka 4
Zimbabwe 4
Netherlands 2
Scotland 2
West Indies 0
Oman 0

Given the last Super Six game is SL v WI, it might be a cracker if it goes down to the wire. If WI are eliminated by then, they might end up being the King makers.

I don’t see how the Lankans will miss out, they’ve been visibly better than all of their opponents in every game so far. They’ve also demonstrated what an absolute farce this entire qualification and WC system is along the way.

If only we had Rabada and Nortje hurling fireballs too…

I'd expect Sri Lanka to walk it but Scotland pushed them today. There's no reason to think the teams they have to face couldn't do the same. But their NRR is good, so it feels like they'd need to lose all three to not make it even in second place.
