RIP World Cup Super League 2020-23 (World Cup Qualifier Jun 16 - Jul 9)

Not just a great upset but one of the greatest chases of all time. If Netherlands had got home it'd have been the second highest successful ODI chase. Still the fourth highest second innings total of all time.

Only saw about 6 overs but genuinely one of the most thrilling finishes.

A few days back I said that West Indies was a country mixed with some primarily FC specialists who are the product of an outdated cricketing pathway and some T20 merchants who have been motivated by the recent influx of T20 leagues. Nothing that has happened since has convinced me of anything else. When Hope is by far your best strike rotator you know there are some massive issues.

I'm also thoroughly displeased that the likes of Sinclair have been on the fringes while there's so much mediocrity in the main XI. The man takes five wickets in his debut ODI series at a decent economy and gets his next ODI a year later? I can only assume Motie is injured because I see that he hasn't played any ODI for a year either. Instead the likes of Cariah and Chase still remain.

Still didn't get an answer to 'why did they simply not end the game in a tie? Why play a Super Over'?

Daren Sammy has a massive job on his hands.

It’s early but I’m getting Misbah vibes from him. Both outstanding captains whose places in the team and role were questioned by the outside cricketing world at that time, both ended up proving the detractors wrong and left behind a legacy compared to what they were given.

Now if CWI sack Haynes and make Sammy the selector in addition to him coaching we’ll have our answer.

Did West Indies not send out the guy who hit a century at a SR of 160? Was he injured?

If it was for fatigue reasons… why on earth would you send Hope out then who would have been keeping for fifty overs? I know I’ve said in the past that you should consider their current match form when deciding on the super over bowler but I’m not entirely sure if Holder has the skills needed to bowl with variations in a super over.

All in all, interesting decisions from the West Indian camp.

Pooran was off the field for sufficient time during the chase, not sure why, but it meant he wasn't allowed to bat in the Super Over.

I'd have gone Joseph, if he was able, he just bowled a decent enough last over.

Get Logan van Beek in the PSL
