RIP World Cup Super League 2020-23 (World Cup Qualifier Jun 16 - Jul 9)

This Windies team will still make it to 2027 with not many changes in personnel, so i am not too sad. I am over the moon for likes of Raza and Sean Williams, this was probably their last chance at an ODI World Cup spot
2027 qualifiers are the hosts (South Africa and Zimbabwe) and 8 ranked teams. West Indies are 10th with eight teams above them already. So, they might have to go through the qualifier again.

Bye bye West Indies! Thankfully we will not be seeing them in the World Cup.

I hope they are disbanded by 2027. There's a strong likelihood that it will happen

What’s your problem with lower ranked sides? First you wanted to ban Bangladesh, now the Windies

There will be 4 more spots though

There's a good chance they finish 5th but you'd expect Ireland to not be so poor, USA could be stronger with some of their 'local' players being eligible, Nepal are improving. You'd expect them to take one of the four spots, but who knows what strength their team will be at by that point?

The side here will be old come 2027.

Seales, Simmonds are possibles to be in the side but it's difficult to know who else will be.

While I don't think West Indies cricket is likely to be disbanded between now and then there may be a few players who choose the T20 route elsewhere.

Honestly good on Scotland, a great performance to knock out West Indies. Perhaps should be a 12-team WC going forwards instead of a 10-team.

Honestly, comes down to a bunch of factors for West Indies cricket: players constantly choosing T20 leagues over international duty (e.g. Russell), the poor management running the West Indies set-up etc.

Will see how they pick themselves up from this - arguably Zimbabwe are more of an ODI outfit than the West Indies.

Next he’ll want to ban India too then.

If they’re selecting even close to half of these blokes then they won’t qualify for obvious reasons.

The optimist in me thinks that won’t happen as there’s other talents in their domestic system but we may well see another Haynes like selector at the helm four years later.

They aren't committed to the game. It isn't about banning them, it is about having a healthy cricketing ecosystem.

Zimbabwe imposed a self inflicted ban from Test cricket when they weren't able to compete. My grouse against Bangladesh being that they weren't anywhere near the top sides despite having the best of facilities. Of late, they've picked up their game and can be viewed as serious challengers in any bilateral.

With the WI, I don't see any reason why they need to continue playing as a unit. There's no national patriotism due to which people play for them. Their main players prefer to represent franchisees and aren't serious about the game at all. If this is what their future holds for them, they might be better off in dissolving the 'West Indies' altogether than be a joke of the cricketing world for ever. This is evident from their fortunes since CWC 2015- where they lost to the Irish. For a nation with a cricketing history as rich as that of WI, they have neglected the game for ages.

They have been a part of 2 World Cup Qualifiers. That's really a dark mark for a full member. They haven't been great/competitive in either format of the game since 2015.(Say 2916, as they won the T20 then) Sorry to say, but this is the reason why I'd want them to split into individual Caribbean islands and ty and play/qualify.

Cricket today requires competitive nations, not someone who just fills up the numbers. The number of posts on Twitter that have come out in support of the WI is a bit ridiculous. The writing was on the walls since ages.

Unpopular opinion here- this exit will have no bearing whatsoever on their fortunes in the coming years.

Zimbabwe may as well be under a ban practically, they've played two tests since 2022 and both of them have been against this team you want banned. :lol

You may as well ban every team eventually because they aren't 'good enough' for the standards. This is absolutely how you ruin the game's growth. Cricket may as well be played by just the big three then because they're the only ones that can compete with each other in all three formats in the long run, home or away. For what it's worth, West Indies won their last T20I series against South Africa in South Africa. Should we ban South Africa also for losing at home to this side that should have been banned? They're in the doldrums right now because of shambolic selections, outdated tactics combined with poor game management which eventually has an effect on morale. There's also another line of thinking wherein you credit the associates for not being pushovers (despite not being at full strength), they've taken games off two full member sides so far. While we're at it, let's also ban Ireland because they got defeated in their recent tests and didn't even qualify for the second stage of the ODI WC qualification then?

There’s only 8 full members who go straight to the World Cup, should we ban the remaining four?
