RIP World Cup Super League 2020-23 (World Cup Qualifier Jun 16 - Jul 9)

I haven't advocated for a ban on WI like @CerealKiller is alluding to. My point has been to simply dissolve the WI into individual nations in the hope that cricket finds centre stage again.

What’s the logic behind that?

What’s the logic behind that?

I went over in detail a few months ago as to why it wouldn’t be a good idea too. No clue why he keeps sticking to it obsessively because he thinks Russell is suddenly going to rock up and play because he can walk around with a Jamaican flag post-game.

I agree with the sentiment of avoiding the doom and gloom but the no free passes to a ‘ten team Champions Trophy’ masquerading as a WC part irks me.

Can Zimbabwe constrain Sri Lanka under the target... Target is not so big, but couple of wickets early may make match interesting...

There's just 8 free passes in the future

Logic ebing:
1. The West Indies arent serious about their cricket.
2. Their board has no control over its players and cannot offer them money/ financial stability. This basically means most of their stars end up becoming globe trotting T20 merchants
3. The WI Test, ODI and T20 teams are in a state of constant disarray
4. This isn't healthy for World Cricket.

Assume that they split up, there will be 4-5 individual boards trying to make a run for the World Cup/ T20 World Cup. It might bring about a slightly more competitive ecosystem as far as the game is concerned.

The way I see it, WI are getting a free pass for their cricket despite continuously falling standards that they've failed to arrest over the past 8 years. As opposed to other countries, you don't see the WI making investments in their cricket and this is what really irks me. Had they made those attempts and yet failed another time, no one would have batted an eyelid. It is just that you do not see the effort from either board/players for the WI.
