Rock Music Thread

Fall Out Boy have written some catchy tunes (I Don't Care, Dance Dance) but I wouldn't go out of my way to get an album of there's unless I was recommended by a friend.

Wanna be friends? Lol.

I do agree, Wentz is such a known name in the music industry now. He does write the lyrics, but Patrick Stump does all the work regarding tunes and composing. He is the musical genius.

When I went to Fall Out Boy about 15 months ago, it was basically the "Pete Wentz" show. Was good to watch, but an absolute bore just watching him talk. Panic At The Disco (whether you like them or not) were much more chatty band-wise. A lot more entertaining.

The thing that annoys me about Fall Out Boy is how much attention Pete Wentz gets. He is the bass player and in most bands the guitarist and the singer get the most attention but honestly, he dominates the headlines and band attention so much. It is not like has written some great basslines (the singles that have been released) to deserve the attention, it is just teenage girls obessed with him.

Thing is, Patrick Stump (Lead Singer and Lead Guitarist) shuns the limelight, hates it. Wentz loves it, so whats up with him being the front-man?

Patrick Stump would have wrote most of the basslines, he does pretty much all the music, except Joe Trohman pretty much was told to go loose and do what he wants, and he did.

Fall Out Boy, poor, imo.

Care to pretty much say why?

Or you just gunna jump on your lil buddies band wagon?

Stump is a GOD! Even producers have commented on how well Stump puts music to lyrics. Its a bit backwards the way Wentz/Stump work.

Wentz has some amazing lyrics, I wouldn't class him as a genius, but he's pretty darn good.

Regarding FoB live, yeh, he talks a lot but they do tell stories 'n stuff.

Personally I find their music to be banal and lacking in depth.

I think my friend has a copy of H.A.A.R.P (the one the recommended me Muse) and if I can't borrow it off him then I will probably find one in the shops out here.

Slap him for it ;)

My Opinion on FOB is that I really, really, really can't stand them!

Pete Wentz isn't a paticularly good bassist, I hate the way he strums it on the neck like a guitar, but atleast he isn't the type who got asked to join the band and just thought Bass was the easiest to pic up. He gets attention because he's naturally a person who's very outgoing and likes airing their beliefs, and like Sim said Stump doesn't like the limelight.

FoB are a decent enough band, I'm not exactly a fan, but my views on them have changed since I heard some more of their stuff.

On GnR, Chinese Democracy and the Illusion albums...well, I really didn't like them. Axl's voice is too shot to be able to do the kind of rock n roll they once did. Appetite for Destruction remains one of the best Hard Rock albums of all time for me.

Yeh, Wentz isn't a particularly good bassist, he gets kinda a metal really bad sounding clunk when playing live because she strums on the neck like Andrew said.

The partnership between Stump and Wentz couldn't been better! Wentz for the limelight, Stump for the genious.

Actually, in the latest few concerts, Stump has been gathering more of the attention and he's a little more chatty now. Even writing that Lullaby for Pete's baby. Can't wait to see the Folie a Deux songs live.

And really, if it weren't for Patrick Stump, Fall Out Boy would probably not even exist and Pete Wentz would probably be doing Metal / Screamo. His earlier work with Screamo prior to Fall Out Boy? Shocking.

Lullaby is amazing live, as is Headfirst Slide.

Stump I reckon feels more confident since Wentz missed one or two gigs, and Stump had to take limelight a bit.

Numb by Linkin Park i like it, also Its My life by Bon Jovi,in The End by LP again.
Boulevard of broken dreams by Green day are my favorite rock songs.

Well LP has no competetion really!!!

A great song I first heard on Madden 09: Rev Theory - Hell Yeah. Pretty damn good for a band I'd never heard of before, although I believe they are pretty big in the US.

Really hooked to Iron Maiden - Paschendale. It is a tribute to the bloodshed at Battle of Passchendaele, During the 1st World War. Great guitar solos as well..

Oh yeah, btw guys, NOFX > every band mentioned in here.

That's right.

One band I'm really loving atm is Puddle of Mudd. Their album, Come Clean was probably the first album I ever bought, and it still happens to be one of my favourite albums in my collection. So many fantastic songs, Blurry, She Hates Me, Control, the whole album's actually brilliant. I've also got 'Famous', and although still an awesome album, not quite as good as Come Clean. It's actually really cool to go back to a band that I really liked when I was in my early teens and still enjoy the music.
