Brisbane run out comfortable winners
The Brisbane Lions have had a very comfortable win against Fremantle in their round 1 clash at the Gabba on Sunday. Brisbane led at every stage of the match to run away 53 point winners infront of a crowd just under 25 and a half thousand fans.
The Lions got out to a slender lead by the quarter time break where they kicked 4 goals to the Dockers only solidtry 1. The Lions started well by running the lines and using the corridor to plan their attack. With the two big units up in the forward line in Brown and Bradshaw, it was going to be a miserable night for the Docker back 6.
The second quarter was even, and the Lions still kept their couple goal lead. 3.4 to the Lions and the Dockers managed 3.6. The Dockers were wasteful in front of goal, and maybe the game would be a whole different story if they had kicked straight in that term. Matthew Pavlich kicked 3 behinds in that quarter alone.
The third quarter was where Brisbane won the contest. Kicking 5 goals 2 to the Dockers who only managed 2.3 to the board after half time with Jonathan Brown kicking 2 goals for the term. It's where the match was about to open up and the Lions have taken their margin out to 33 points. Certainly a tough ask for the Young Dockers to come back from here.
And the last quarter was again all Brisbane. Slamming home 4 goals to the answer of only 1 goal from the Dockers, as the Lions ended up running away with that 53 point win in their home ground. Jonathan Brown finished with 6 goals from Centre Half Forward, while Luke Power was damaging through the midfield with 33 posessions and kicking 3 goals to ern himself BOG.
