SAc2k4PT patch v2.0

2nd Innings India 19 all out (18 overs)

was meant to be 9 all out...

as by then i realised bowling yorkers was the way to go...

Yup I used your patch in my latest story. England v India, 1st Test at Lords. (Check my npower series story thread link below).

A brief summary:

I think the patch is pretty cool. Batting especially I think has been a lot harder, in the sense that you have to be careful playing your shots, as most of the mistimed/lazy shots go straight into the hands of a fielder. So batting has been made a lot better than it was I think. You have got to be careful while playing shots. Good work done in this regard.

I also started the bowling, and had Virender Segwag hitting me all over the park, before giving a simple catch to Vaughan. Apart from that Ive been able bottle down the Indian runrate to just about 2.6 rpo, but I havent managed to get quick wickets. India were 110-2 at Tea. So, so far getting wickets hasnt been that easy, but you can really slow down the run rate. Or maybe the CPU has realised that it is chasing England's modest innings score of 250, and need not play too aggressively, since there is enough time left in this test match. I dont know whether this is due to your patch or just the general gameplay. But its good to see the CPU think. (especially in a test match). I hope it can do so for the entire match, because often before they get into good positions then lose wickets in a flurry. I think the CPU has managed to score 400+ against me just once in C2004.

Anyways, all and all a good patch. Good work by SAc2k4patch team.

Mr. Eddie I always bowl atleast one yorker an over, but the CPU does play his defensive block shot and prevent it from hitting the stumps. Yeah, there are several times when you get pick a wicket by bowling a yorker, but I doubt it happens always. Also I dont think its impossible to hit the ball at all. Ive hit fours. Its all about timing and practice. You need to practice your shot timing and shot selection in the practice nets. (I always practice first if I havent played for a long time). I think you are playing the shots a bit late, which is why the ball isnt going as far as it should. Anyways best of luck with your next try with this patch. Its a good patch no doubt.

Cheers.

Well Koala and friends, I had tried your patch yesterday as it was Sunday, so I played. Its hard to bat with your patch. Previousl using tutsi patch, when CPU bolws towards offside(including full toss), Batsman(Human player) comes forward and hit a cover drive(Advance shot with cover direction) which always results in fours unless some might field had done. Now using your patch, with the same delivery, I even cannot connect to bowl too. Hitting with advance shot with power button results in four unless some fielders are outside the circle. But one thing I must say the number of sixes decrease a lot. Its a good patch. Thats Solve.

Thanks for your review mate but just to let you know, the patch has been made for realism and to stop some of the most BS loaded gameplay we have ever seen, now getting to some of your points

1) The outfield is not slow but has been edited to stop most 4s going to thr rope, but you still can hit them
2) Backfoot shots can be played, the team here hits them all the time
3) The yorker is something we are trying to fixs
4) Its a realism patch, not a fun gameplay patch

The next patch should be out sometime this week, or late next month I am not sure yet we hope to have the bugs from v1.3b gone and more realism to the game like, more edges, harder batting better bowling and some edited shots

We do like to know what you guys think of the patch so, reviews and other posts are welcome

Yorkers weren't just a problem for me... the AI could not play them either..

I do not mean a middle stump yorker, the are easy to defend. But, try to aim half a ball width outside Off or Leg-stump, that gives a wicket everytime.

About hitting the ball and timing...

It seems that if u are going for realism, then to hit the ball you would :

- line your batman up the the line of the ball.
- determine the length and play forward or back.
- make adjustment for movement.

This should mean your batsman connecting with the ball.

BUT, if u do this with this patch, you will be :

1. Bowled
2. LBW
3. Miss all together
4. Edge ball ? (never done that yet)

In short, you have to align your batman about 1-2ft away from the ball in order to make contact..

That to me is not very realistic..

Having said that, without the patch, the game to too easy..

Well we are trying to put as much realism in as we can, but working with c2k4 we can only go so far

Just a small post
I have had a few people ask me when the next version is going to come out over the last few days and I have to say not anytime soon,

Eddie
The patch will get better when we find out how to get free movement in the game, but till then sorry

OK, Now I will have to go with the 1.3a patch because bowling is too easy. Even under normal conditions for me, sorry mate. :(
From Duffarama.

Hey. I lost the first test using ur patch, but in the second test on a damp wicket, I scored 330 in the first innings, then bowled out the Indians for 85 in their 1st innings, and are 59/4 in the 2nd Innings as well. maybe its due to the pitch and not the patch.

Just as an update to testing your patch.

Now i have played 6 test matches, England V West Indies , in the Carribean.

- you were right, batting is not impossible, and more realistic.

- slip catches NEVER carry to slip when batsmean plays defensive shot. I have seen 20+ edges but not one has carried to the fielder, some don't even reach the keeper. Not good when this happens on a "hard" pitch with a 94mph delivery!.

- On wet pitches spinners don't bounce and subsequently spim sideways along the floor. Lso i minor prob with medium pacers.

- One day matches, still run-out bug, 8 runouts in recent game.

- Spinners to good, West Indies were 34-2 (30 overts pace) 42 allout (35 overs). All wickets caught at "bat pad" positions.

- Computor still bats too negatively in Tests, scoring less than 1 run per over.

- Computor being more agressive, basically, they hit everthing to leg-side, even balls about 1-2ft outside off stump. (and they never get LBW playing across the line!)cIf u have 3 fielders on the legside (sq leg, Bkwd Sq leg, short fine leg.) u totally stop the AI from scoring.

I hope these points help for next patch
