Sachin is now 34.He's changed with age.
He used to agressive 5-10 years back.

I think he needs to be more agreesive or may be he is old now to play cricket that's why he is not in form. Not sure though

31 years...but thats actually old enough to become tired. Remember he has been playing for 15+ years and i still think his best years are in the future, may be the next few. Until 2000, he has been a dashing batsman, a Viv richard type player. From then he has been more of an accumulator.

Like Boycott said, tennis elbow is a painful injury and Sachin has not been in the best touch since that. He has, however, brushed aside several challenges so we can be very optimistic that his "lean" run so far will be changed.

And despite calling this a "lean" run he has managed some pretty nice scores. Not a purple patch like Sehwag but definitely quite respectable. Unlike some others, cough cough Ganguly.

I have always been one to support Sachin Tendulkar. The man is so great that even when he puts in excellent performances we rate it as ordinary. He can score at an average of 75 in a serious and not get a 100 and we'll wonder, "What's wrong with him?" So just leave him alone. If you want to fix something, go do something to Ganguly.

He can become a liability if he destroys the momentum of the batting. I am not saying he is always a liability (especially when compared to Ganguly)

That is from this thread alone.

You seem to have an agenda against Ganguly, just give him a break, okay ?

Just trying to balance out the people who want to change Tendulkar with the people who want to change Ganguly. I'll readily give him credit where it is due...but... his lack of performance of late is just perfect fodder.

well , i suppsoe i had started a similar thread like this.
Anyhow,he's not focussing on cricket .There are other things on his mind like the 35th ton, etc.
He needs a BREAK as soon as possible,. so that he can come back .

You just completely contradicted yourself there. If he isn't focussing on cricket then he's definetely not focussing on his 35th ton.Or is getting your 35th ton not cricket :D

yea, i wouldn't exactly he's hit a lean patch, he's still averaging 55.33 for the season 2004/05.....................unless you (not the guy i've quoted but the other people who unhappy with his form) expect him to average more than his bowling average for that period (124.00, lol) i dont see why you so dissapointed with him.

'tis cos ganguly sucks, i would say it's perfectly warranted critisism!!!

I think Sachin has been pretty good in the test matches. But still when we need him to score some quick runs, I dont think he can be relied upon as he was before. I dont know how serious a tennis elbow is and so cant comment on it. If that is really a problem, then why is he playing? Seriously, we are then having a less than full fit player in the squad and that deprives us of a full fit player who are there is hordes in India. (saying all this becoz of people citing his injury as a reason, thats all; no one can replace tendulkar for India)

But Sachin is a genius. i say that i will be optimistic of sachin getting back to his old big run scoring ways and it doesnt matter which type of cricket he plays - aggressive or defensive!!

Firstly:
even if he isn't scoring centuries every other game he's still got a class average of 53 or something for the 04/05 season. You cant in any way say that is "depriving" the indian team.
Secondly:
You shouldn't soley rely on him and dravid to carry the team. You need good players..........go get some more!!!!

Lol we have Sehwag. And unfortunately we are relying on him 99% for our runs. The other 1% is Pathan. :p going by one match, of course.

i think we should leave sachin alone. A man so experienced and talented, he should know all the stuff that we said and more.
I think india is in the same situation as Australia in mid 90's. They relied on Mark Waugh/Taylor and Warne. but they made progress from then to become what they are today.

India has a lot of talented players in kaif, yuvraj, ganguly and laxman but the whole team and the coach are just not able to use the properly. For example, sending kaif down the order does not help nor does sending Yuvraj at no.6.

Then where do we send Yuvraj/Kaif? 3 or 4?? Only one player can come up the order and replace Ganguly who needs to go down the order. Kaif can remain at No.6 or NO.7 and help India finish matches or put pressure on the opposition by picking up fast singles and two's.

Yuvraj can come up the order and Ganguly should come down the order and face the spinners.

kaif should come up the order. There is no point in taking quick singles/2's if he is coming at no.7. You will need yuvraj at that point, since he is a good striker. Ganguly should try opening with sachin and sehwag one down. In case ganguly gets out early, sehwag is still in. If ganguly plays ok, thats a good sign.
