Good Evening to all members and cricket lovers all round the world and especially in India.

I'm starting this thread to vent my frustation against Doordarshan i.e India's terrestial network.Viewers in India, like me,must be bored with DD's commentry and other stupid stuff .

The things that DD lack :
1.proper commentry team
2.proper editor
3.proper in-match coverage
4.a good broadcasting team considering the fact that your telecast is shown worldwide

Also viewers in India must be bored with the pre-match , lunch time and post match shows with stupid and improper analysis.

Though elsewhere in England and Australia people are actually wanting the Boards to give rights to terrestial network...I believ many people would back me in giving the rights to a private specialized broadcaster.

I suport you !

Whilst it may not be quite as important to have TV on free to air in India because the country is cricket mad anyway, I still wouldn't support Pay TV, simply because I believe it should be free to air. Also, with how cricket mad India is, it wouldn't be impossible if a company saw it as a chance to rip people off.

DD is the worst channel ever in any country, period!!!

Well the thing is that the Indian Info and Broadcasting ministry has passed a law which allows DD access to all matches involving India played in india/abroad.
So i see no reason for them to be awarded the rights if they are to get it by default.

i mean those ppl who cannot afford the pay channel can watch it on DD whilst others can actually opt for better quality coverage with the premium sports channel like SET MAX,ESPN STAR or even TEN SPORTS.

I've heard a lot of bad things about Doordarshan..... is that the channel that sometimes cuts to advert breaks in the middle of an over?

No, although some people say that I've never seen a match where adverts are shown in the middle of an over for no reason. But they have adverts after EVERY over or wicket. Also the crew is not great.

They did show adverts in the middle of an over, during the India v Pakistan series. DD is probably the last channel I would watch a cricket match on. The DD feed is being shown here on Ten Sports.

Having a subscription broadcaster does not guarantee the production quality will be raised. As far as the UK goes its my personal opinion that the production standard of BBC's,ITV's and C4's programmes are higher than SKY tv's, its just that SKY have the money to buy all the sport and can dedicate more channels to it. However with freeview in the UK there is a possiblility for free to air broadcasters to have extra channels dedicated to sport.

On DD, we miss like the first ball in anover due to adds. Also, there is no highlights package apart from in the end. The commentators are okay, but not that good really. Also they have this horrible habit of keeping track of the scores wrongly.

Guys, just be happy you can even watch cricket.

I have found DD to be pretty average... Not much complaints but yes, as some said here, the ads are pretty annoying.... but thats the only free to air channel in India that has a dedicated sports channel... so indian viewers who cant afford money for cricket have no other way other than to watch it.

It's the ads which makes it possible so poor people can watch cricket. So I have no problem with it.

DD sucks big time lol. And if the telecasting rights go to DD than the concerned authorities should GO AND HANG THEMSELVES. The PAY TV is DIRT CHEAP in India. Its not like other countires. And all those poor people in India who can afford a TV or have a TV can and will have cable installed. Believe me its true or those poor souls usually go to a local muffin shop and stay there all day and WATCH CRICKET. Now nobody tell me that DD has more coverage area and its free to air. That's just not even an case of arguement here. What you guys hear in news about Indian Govt. awarding cricket rights to DD is a result of shoddy politics within the board and Govt. And they are hell bent on killing cricket.
It was ESPN which brought all those cool features about broadcasting in India. Hell, even my girlfriend says that she and her mom always liked ESPN coverage. Now they are not so huge cricket supporters but almost constitute 40 % of viewership.
And I will mention again "CABLE IS DIRT CHEAP IN INDIA", Even the new DTH system is cheaper than other countries.
