Ultimate Patch (at least for me!)
Hey Sid, just dont have words to praise you man!!!! You deserve a big round of applause for your work on this patch! I am a big fan of Tutsi and boss but you have now stood up alongside them with patches for this new C2k5. Here is my small review. Hope it is useful for you to iron out flaws and hopefully can help you in improving your patch!
Positives:
1. Absolute realism in the game! I picked an India-Pakistan game on Hard level, Day/Night on a Normal wicket with Humid weather. India won the toss and elected to bat first! Tendulkar was run out for 1 in the first over due to a mix up with Sehwag. Sehwag then cover drove a boundary to end the first over at 5/1. I was happy with the way the CPU occasionally bowled balls on the off stump (2 out of 6 balls). The second over was like 2,3,1 (i.e. 2 balls on off stump, 3 on middle stump and 1 on leg stump).
2. The power boost shot has the risk element to it and if timed well goes to the boundary also! It doesnt favor the batsmen new to the crease. For example, Ganguly who is on nought, tried to loft the ball over mid on but found the fielder at mid on who was positioned just for that catch (again credit to you Sid for your field placings!).
3. Dravid played like Dravid and Sehwag like Sehwag. I tried the Sehwag method of batting with Dravid and thankfully survived. So decided to play the Dravid way with Dravid and it worked very well. With Sehwag, the balls when timed well went to the boundary and cleared the rope too once! The shots too looked absolutely real life like. Good timing makes the shot look even more better. Sehwag attempted a pull off Sami and how great the shot looked! The ball sped to the boundary!
4. India set a target of 211 for Pakistan to chase! Inserted your 200-250 pacing files... Surprise!!!! Afridi smashed a six and a four off the first over. Taufeeq Umar was subdued at the other end but got that occasional boundaries to keep the scoring rate over 4.5+ (sometimes over 5 runs per over!). Afridi kept scoring at more than run a ball and his shots looked absolutely Afridi like. Dont know whether this was co-incidental or not but Afridis shots carried more power whearas Umar's shots were more about timing! Agarkar finally breached the defences of Umar at 46/0 and man, I was jumping like mad!!! Both Umar and Afridi frustrated me a lot and I was visibly elated at getting Umar's wicket! Pakistan 46/1 off 10 overs and need 166 off 40 overs! A tough ask for India there and Pakistan look favorites to win it comprehensively!
Negatives:
Not much really!
1. The misfields is a frustrating problem! I am saying this just because I heard your patch solves it to an extent. But its still annoying. In one over, Khan kept it really tight for the first four balls without giving a run to Afridi. But the fifth ball was misfielded by Dravid and mid off giving Afridi a four and then Pathan misfielded at deep midwicket to give Afridi another four, taking it to 8 runs from that over. Just imagine being in my position there! Terribly frustrated!
2. I dont know if this problem is with your patch but, Agarkar bowled a ball on the leg stump and Umar tries a square drive shot (a cut shot also!) and the ball hits his thighs, but surprisingly the umpire gives it a wide! This happened two times so far for me!
3. The backfoot shots carry a bit more power than normal. Afridi hit three backfoot shots and all went to the boundary on once bounce! A bit less power would work better (may be reducing it by 0.2 or 0.3).
Will post more when I find it (either positives or negatives!). but one thing is sure, if you work on improving the patch, this patch can become an Ultimate Patch for Cricket 2005 and Tutsi and Boss would have the toughest of competitions from you!
