I have xp
I have a problem...It s with my Shell menu
A few days back, my computer had 40 updates to install on shutdown, i let it- It kinda half installed sp3
Now my right click menu, the first set of options, e.g. Open and Run as.. are gone and the Winrar right click menu doesn't work
have already tried a system restore, didn't help

I do not trust any other browsers except IE and Firefox.

Don't trust IE, I heard from somewhere that the latest version lets in viruses. I am not sure if they patched that up yet or not.

Ok I've got a big big problem.

I insert removable drives and USB devices on my computer, when I'm finished working with them I remove them and turn the computer off. The next time when I turn my computer on, it doesn't open and some error messages keep showing. I think it's definitely some Trojan and I have re-installed my windows several times and whenever I insert any removable drive this keeps happening and I am tired of it. I am now logging in from the safe mode.

Someone please help.

First thing, do a virus scan once logged in on windows (in safe mode)
Post your results, and also i don't fully understand your problem- is it that windows doesn't start or the usb don't work, if it's the usb try another one and if that works there are ways around it

1st - It is definetly NOT a virus
2nd - Check your USB drives
3rd - Check your removable device, see if it works on another computer
4th - You might wanna re-install your drives with your Motherboard/Chipset CD

TumTum, I have used those USB devices in my laptop and they work perfectly and don't cause any harm to the laptop.

The problem actually is that whenever I use my USB device it works perfectly. And when I am done using the computer, I turn it off like everyone else does. The next time when I turn it on, the windows doesn't open and it shows errors so I have to use the computer in the safe mode. I have re-installed my windows/chipset/motherboard several times but whenever I insert my USB devices again (couple of them actually cause problems and the others doen't), the same thing keeps happening again.

I am using Mccafee anti-virus, may be that's the problem? Could you guys suggest the best anti virus software that detects threats quickly?

Buy a new USB. How much does it cost anyway.

Update your McAfee virus definition and run full system scan. I have used this Av for last 5 years and has not failed me.

I am having a strange problem. MY system's OS is Win98SE. From the past couple of hours whenever I go to Start->Run and try to type in anything....I get this Explorer has performed an illegal operation...error window....

( However other than that the Browsers & other applications are working fine but I am unable to use the Start-Run feature. Also I restored the registry using the scanreg/restore command from DOS but still the problem persists )

Use default windows down loader to download files from Rapidshare.

You said you use FDM and Rapidshare works best with default wiindow d/l managers rather than download managers like FDM, Getright etc.. Anyways post a screen shot.
