Solve your computer problem with the help of experts!

I can only scan with spybot and it takes lot of time. I can't install Kaspersky (virus?)

and How can I find the fault by the reason you gave?
If your PC shuts off without any message i.e monitor goes off instantly then it may be a faulty PSU try changing it. I had a similar issue recently changed the PSU and its working fine

Not only monitor, CPU also turns off

So are you sure I need to change my UPS?

I already had few problems with UPS before also so it will right to change it.

:p Sorry I also meant your CPU shuts down If your UPS had problems earlier try one thing put the system on direct power then try connecting iPod and see if it turns off.

Well if UPS shuts down due to over load it makes enough indications to point towards itself. Its never a silent shut down.

What windows are you using? Before it loads, press F8 and select "Disable automatic restart on system failure".
Now, when you connect your ipod, see if there is a BSOD.

You need to scan no matter how much time it takes. If you don't scan, how would you know what problem is there?

If there is a malware that's causing the problem, we can rectify it.

Hey

I have ashes cricket 09 and downloaded the first patch. This removed the game from my windows vista laptop and now it only gives me three options. Modify, Remove and Repair. Each of these comes up with an error saying Error: 1605- This action is only valid for products that are currently installed. I can't find any files on my machine related to either the game or the update. I have run searches but nothing comes up.

Please Help as much as possible

Thanks

If that was problem, then system would restart not only shutdown. Anyways I have already tried diabling it but no changes.

I quick scanned it with Malwarebytes but it didn't found any threads. Might give a spybot try.

He's talking about PSU - Power Supply Unit - The SMPS of the computer.
UPS is something different. Yeah, if the UPS is not working properly, the computer may shutdown, but for minor voltage and load fluctuations, like addition of an external device via USB, the SMPS should ideally handle the situation.

Do as he said, connect your computer to the mains, without the UPS, and see if it shuts down abruptly. If it still shuts down, then the UPS is alright.

Regarding the malware scan, PLEASE do a full system scan using spybot search and destroy, AND some good antivirus program.
I am starting to get irritated now that you're not wanting to follow simple instructions. If you want help from someone sitting 10000 km away from your computer, without him having any sort of access to it, you might have to do certain things which he tells you to.

You still havn't answered a simple question, which windows are you using?

And, if you still don't wanna do it, Post a HijackThis log, and I'll have a look at what may be wrong.
Get it from here: HijackThis - Trend Micro USA

If you need help, you should be willing to cooperate. Else, this is my last post on this issue.

@Abhas. Least your as willing as the ones from the other computer tech' forums. They wouldn't have a bar if you didn't follow simple instructions.

I am getting confused what to do first? Anyways I will try all the methods you said and I have Windows 7 32 bit.

First of all, we need to understand whether it is a hardware problem or a software problem.
We'll check basic hardware first:
Connect the computer to the mains instead of the UPS and connect your ipod. Now see if the computer shuts down.
If it does, then your UPS is fine. There is something else faulty.

Next, We'll check software.

1. Download Spybot search and destroy, and update it to the latest definitions.
Run a full system scan and post a screenshot of the results, or simply type them here.

2. Run a full system scan using a good antivirus. I would suggest try Avast! since its free.
Post results.

If you are unable to scan in normal mode, use safe mode to do the scans.

First do these, then we can guide you further.

Another thing, Have you tried putting a pen-drive? does the system behave properly after inserting it?

You're right, I should have directed him to some tech forum. There he would have got his "Answers" ;)

Nope, Not yet

I don't care if I didn't get the right answer tbh. It's not the first time I haven't got any help from internet. Even though I appreciate, how you are willing to help me when no one usually answers this questions. Never expected I will get this kind of computer help from "cricket" forum :clap

Doesn't the shutdown problem occur when you connect your ipod? Why would it shut down in the middle of an installation?

Nope, Not yet

Do it if you have any pen-drive / external hard disk. Though, now I feel its a virus issue, but worth a try.

You will get all your answers provided you respond to the questions asked, and follow instructions.
I came across some earlier posts of yours, and Kev was trying to help you on something. You weren't willing to follow a simple step. He quite rightly refused to help you.

You can't get answers from the internet like they are floating about and it's just a matter of catching the right one. You need to interact with the person trying to help, and follow his advice.

Another thing you can check is your CPU temperatures if they are too high then PC may shutoff automatically. I think it depends on your motherboard company but generally there is a option in the BIOS called "Temperature Shutdown" which shuts down your PC if your CPU reaches a certain temperature for e.g 90 C

I have said in one of my previous posts that it now happens regular even without iPod Connect. But this problem occurs only after connecting iPod or say after installing Itunes and at first time it gave me error that window can't recogize device. Maybe this is related to it?

I always keep my gamepad connected to it. But if you want I can try pen drive also.

You mean Photoshop problem? I didn't try because I tried many methods before and the one Kev gave was not related with my problem and moreover I already tried that method before also. It was some printer problem in the end.
