South Africa in Australia Nov-Dec 2012/13

new slightly weird/pansy looking motion with his arms as he runs in

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. His arm is definitely higher. But hey, if it works, who am I to hate on it?

He's got a longer run up, a new slightly weird/pansy looking motion with his arms as he runs in, and his arm in delivery is a little bit higher compared to some of his slinging in the past.

Great way to put it. It's more of a loose wrist.

How was Warner out? Yes there was a noise, but it was the same noise that Smith and Clarke got given not out to. There was clearly no edge on the slow-mo replay and nothing came up on hot spot from the front angle. All that came up was a massive glare which was twice the size of the ball from the side angle hot spot....

I knew it. We cant expect Clarke to pull out his 200s every innings. The top 4 need to perform.

Hmmm, so 4 quick wickets this morning and Australia are on the ropes. My thoughts:
*Warner's was the only bit of bad batting. He needs to discipline himself for the first 10-20 balls he's out there, and THEN impose himself on the bowlers. This whole 'natural game' thing is only working sporadically. In his defence though, pretty tough period to bat, so it's understandable for him to revert to old habits in this innings.
*Why aren't we batting outside the crease to Philander? He's managed to trap the 2 guys with the biggest forward lunges (Ponting and Watson), despite being on a bouncy pitch. He's not fast so the batsmen shouldn't be scared, and it might make him pitch short which would disrupt his natural length. Or the keeper would come up which might force more errors.
*It's been great line bowling from Steyn, very straight, but his length hasn't been particularly full and I think a good leaver would be able to leave his balls on length and watch them bounce over the stumps. It's a bit of a lost art these days though.

I guess because they couldn't say it DEFINITELY wasn't out. That massive glare may have hidden a 'real' spot on the bat, and given there was a noise I think they had to stick with the original decision. Bad luck for Warner, he probably didn't hit it - but I sympathise with the 3rd umpire there, he couldn't win either way with that call.

Clarke seriously needs to rethink his strategy. In the press he always said he bats more positive against good bowling attacks but since those 400runs he scored he no longer things they are that good and probably doesn't bat as positive.
