Holy tweaking Shit

Perera & Fernando You Beauty

Bloody Brilliant ....

Exceptional game of cricket. Got the last 30 minutes, and Perera really outplayed himself today.

Hopefully, SL uses this win to propel themselves into a winning outfit ready for the world cup.

What the .....?
I need to watch the highlights for sure.
I saw the scorecard at 230 something for 8 and I thought the match is gone but just opened cricbuzz and whak!
:eek::eek::eek:

Wow

Saf is my favorite team after India, but this is awesome ... Nothing better than a resurgent Sri Lankan team right before the world cup

I thought it was on the cards..... At 236/9 I backed SL to pull off a miracle

That was one of the best Test matches I've seen. Comparisons are being made to the WI/Aus Test where Lara also made 153 (which I also saw the end of, skipping class was not an issue as all the teachers wanted to watch the thing too). But this one was also special in its own way. Sri Lanka needed a miracle and they got it in the form of Perera and Fernando.

We may have just witnessed one of the, if not the best test innings ever in the history of the game. Kusal Perera's knock was great enough to stand on it's own, but with the added context of playing away, versus a team on a high, and with world class bowlers whilst your own team has been at one of the lowest points in history could make it the greatest knock ever.

Its sad that there is no activity here.... Because Sri Lanka are giving south Africa an absolute run for their money here

Target of less than 200 on cards

Everyone is confused as to what demons this wicket has, because they are not quite visible

I`m so enjoying this series. With no disrespect to India winning in Australia, SL winning this would be special. C`mon guys. While England did beat SL 3-0, it was`nt as one-sided as it looks. SL threatened to chase down big totals a couple of occasions in that series as well before they finally nailed it at Durban.

Also, dare I say, this should shut Shastri and Kohli up. Its been a great year for cricket already. The resurgence of SL and WI this early in a World Cup year was not something any of us had predicted. Add Ireland and Afghanistan constantly punching above their weight, along with a good Bangladesh, we have a pool that can play competitive cricket. Lets not forget, associate cricket is at the strongest that its ever been. Nepal, Scotland, Hong Kong and PNG have all been good at different occasions. UAE were good in those qualifiers last year. I don`t know what stops the ICC from having more global events except shortsightedness. If they cared about the long term health of the sport and are willing to take short term losses financially, we are at the cusp of the sport turning around bigtime. Its not gimmicky stuff like the Hundred that is required to turn this sport around. It is allowing sides equal opportunities.

Seeing this SA side imploding in their own backyard is so mind-blowing and it seems unimaginable TBH. The India, Pakistan series and this series in particular have shown that there is obviously massive flaws in their batting lineup especially after ABD retired. Its really disappointing to see the likes of Markram and Amla failing to score runs at home, the only bright spot has been QDK in the batting department. Their bowling masks the fact that their batting really needs to go through some sort of reform and changes need to be made.

On the other hand, it has been great seeing an SL side rise from a humiliating defeat and push an SA side to the limits. It's been a pleasant surprise given how inexperienced and poor SL seemed before the tour. Fernando and Rajitha are not regular starters in an XI by any means. They're only injury cover and its fantastic to see them perform so well. But at the same time its really odd to see an inexperienced SL attack have more success against SA than the stronger Indian and Pakistani bowlers.

It definitely has been, there's been some excellent cricket so far played. No one gave WI a chance against England and they outplayed them. SL is on the verge of series win away from home, maybe a series draw, again no one gave them even an outside chance. Who knows, this may be the year of surprises in the cricketing world. We might be in for a very competitive World Cup with several twists and turns and surprises. I'm extremely excited to see the cricket that will be played in the following months to come.

Sri Lanka on the verge of a massive resurgence. A series win for them against SA in SA, is huge! Remember, SA have not lost any players and playing full strength (unlike Australia, who lost their backbone of Warner and Smith, when they faced India in the recent series).

This series could be the modern day epic that the cricketing world so desperately needs, amidst all the politics and the T20 proliferation.

Yes absolutely. Asian Teams coming to this Country has struggled a lot and if Sri Lanka, not that old Sri Lanka who was strong as ever but this inexperienced Sri Lankan side winning in South Africa is something that can't be defined in words. It's an achievement of massive proportions. This speaks about how competitive Cricket is becoming these days. Even the most inexperienced and inconsistent side can blow away a strong opposition away from home which speaks about the versatility and the competitiveness of the game.

I did expect them to turn around things right before the WC. West Indies beating England still doesn't surprise me much. I also expected Sri Lanka to give tough time to the teams around the world but not in the way they did in this series !!!

You know what ? Sometimes when you see an inexperienced bowler you feel like yes, this is the bowler I will target and above that if you see the entire side struggling for form and results you say something to yourself, "This is side against whom I am going to unleash myself" and that is where the attitude of the bowler matters a lot. Even the bowler fears being hit for runs seeing a quality batting line-up. But right there, a bowler needs to tell himself "Look, the batsman wants to target me so if I can surprise the batsman with some good bowling I would always stand a chance to dismiss the batsman". It's not always about the quality but it's about the belief you have on yourself and the attitude of the opposition. So that's why Sri Lanka have proven to be better than both India and Pakistan against South Africa
